If it was gxm, that is not gmx, so it may have been a phishing attempt. I would go to the real website and use the contact methods found there. I would be very suspicious about giving your password to anyone or using a login form reached via a link from an email, especially if the email or website doesn't look exactly right. Go to the site that you know is real and use that only.
