They called us, asked for a lot of information and said we were qualified for $48,000 in grants to pay off medical bills and student loans. They wanted a fee of $3,300 up front. We said no way. They gave us their website and are going to call back tomorrow. Has anyone had this experience?

I have had the same as above, different numbers, but exact scenario... I am very skeptical and all flags point to scam... the only thing was that if there were a legit company that did exactly what they say, I see the challenges they would have betting their funding. The companies providing the money don't want to pay them (if people want free money they can do the work themselves, would be the perspective) and like the guy on the phone mentioned after the grant is awarded there is no true obligation to pay... like Scott and I guess the rest of the world I could really use the money and the story seems somewhat believable, but still a little far fetched... I guess I just want to believe it. I was not aware that corporations even offered grants to individuals to pay off debt. That is the part that I find a bit far fetched. I am sure they look for write offs wherever they can, but I am sure they can find better causes than giving money to folks up to their eyeballs in debt. The more I think about the premise the more red flags come up. Not sure I am willing take the risk. It isn't even consistant... they guy told me $2500. So either it is a flat fee or it isn't.

I am also going through this process. I told them I will give them nothing up front and will give no personal information (credit card). They said they still qualified me for a grant. Now I will complete the application process. If they ask for any money it is a scam. Grants are free and do not require an application fee or class. They told me once I deposit the check and it goes through (want to make sure its not a bad check) then they get their commission from the grant of 8%. It seems legit, but I will be very skeptical this hole time. Are there any precautions to take?

I received two calls from (202) 332-8569 (1 week apart). First confirmed me for $35,000 and said she would pass it up to her boss (Michael Burke). She was a friendly lady who "blessed" me for qualifying.
The call today from Michael Burke said he could get me $69,550 in the next 60-90 days IF I paid them $4550. I asked for a confirmation email but he declined until I come up with the $4550. He also mentioned a fee of $137/mo via Credit Card but not sure how that relates to the $4550. I am now very skeptical but we really really need the money (since I have been unemployed for the past few years). There is not much hope to even come up with that $$$
