Further to previous review of this company, the patio had got so bad (apart from the bad workmanship in laying the patio at the beginning) - all over the patio there were areas where the pointing had washed away under the paving slabs and paving slabs were sinking making trip hazards.
Also, as there was no runaway on the patio and the patio laid by DTE Landscaping came only one brick below the DPC, this was another problem which had to be urgently addressed.
Consequently, I requested a 'professional' landscaping company to excavate the patio laid by DTE Landscaping and upon excavation it was evident that...
1, The site was definitely NOT excavated, as originally requested, by DTE Landscaping.
2. When the paving stones laid by DTE Landscaping were taken up, it was clear that they had NOT been laid on a full bed of mortar, as stated by the owner of DTE Landscaping on numerous occasions. He had used the dot and dab' method. (Photographs attached)
When I told DTE Landscaping that the patio was sinking, on numerous occasions, I was advised by the owner of DTE Landscaping that "The patio has a hard Sub base Consisting of Type 1 MOT"
It was evident during excavation of the patio that DTE Landscaping definitely DID NOT use or lay MOT Type 1.
DTE Landscaping also stated he slabs are laid on top of Sharp Sand and Cement base.
The professional landscaper stated there was nothing' to be compacted and that MOT Type 1 had definitely NOT been used.
The base under the concrete, in front of the kitchen and dining room window area, was nothing of any substance and the setts had been laid directly on mud. (Photographs attached)
Also, upon excavation the base (which was nothing of any substance) was extremely wet, as was the wall below the DPC. (Photographs attached)
To the side of the house (corner to side gate) the cement had been laid on sand, which were there when the original old paving slabs were taken up.
I was advised that the paving stones DTE Landscaping had laid were not Natural Indian Sandstone Raj and were of a very poor quality (very heavily riven, with cracks) and could well/may have been rejects'.
The photograph attached shows Natural Indian Sandstone Raj as I had originally requested.
Also, having seen the dark grey bricks which DTE Landscaping originally wanted to use and had delivered which I stated were unacceptable, I was advised that these bricks are very cheap and that DTE Landscaping were obviously trying to save as much money as possible.
I was advised by the Landscapers who have completed the new patio, that the patio laid by DTE Landscaping is one of the worst patio jobs they have ever seen (other professional landscapers who gave quotations and advice stated the same) and they could not believe what was underneath the paving slabs. There were also numerous red ant nests! The 'professional' landscapers (who I would highly recommend and cannot fault) also believe at most, the work carried out and materials used by DTE Landscaping to lay the patio, would have been in the region of £500. For the work carried out by DTE Landscaping they were paid £4000 (£3,500 in cash and the remaining £500 by bank transfer).

I have written this review as I do not anyone else to be taken in by this company.
