They send flyers to everyone and their brother saying they have been pre-approved for a loan for x amount eg. $46,000.00 at a 2.9% interest rate with a monthly payment of only $250. When you call to inquire, you're actually speaking to a sales rep for a debt settlement company called Century Consulting Services aka Century Law Firm. They tell you that you do not qualify for the loan because of your debt-to- income ratio (even if you do) and low credit score (even if you have a great credit score) and then try to convince you to enroll in the debt settlement program. This is usually a 4-year commitment that involves a long legal contract that you can "cancel at any time". You may be sued by the creditor and your credit score will drop to the 500's. But, hey, it's OK! They reduce your debt by at least 40% supposedly! And they offer a W R I T T E N G U A R A N T E E (which is illegal in some states). Granted the creditor agrees to their terms and the dollar amount they propose... Which they don't know until after you've signed up and spent thousands of dollars on the "program". It states in the contract, which I read from top to bottom, that it may take 6-9 months for them to even contact the creditor. In the meantime, they are drafting your bank account automatically every month and nothing is being resolved. Your credit is just becoming garbage. Good luck with these people. They lie every time they open their mouths! They also do the same with other "low interest rate loan offers" from other companies. You receive a flyer that seems too good to be true and it's the same people. Disgusting! I received a bunch of them and they're all the same company. Century.
