“Pacific Coast hours in New York”

Krista v.
2/6/24

This is an internet business based in California. My insurance has them listed as Long Island City, NY. Live receptionist is not available until 11 AM! Half the day is gone while these people are just waking up. Their website is irritating to look at with a bunch of birds flapping. Because they allow you to book an appointment before verifying insurance, they were also allowed to cancel my appointment with 20 min notice and signed off on the email message with "Happily, "

Billing nightmare.
Extremely difficult to get anyone on the phone. Emailed me a horrific bill after months of visits stating that although they approved me my insurance didn't go through and the months of billing was reversed to my out of pocket. After numerous calls and emails and tons of stress for this avoidable situation we came to an amount due.
This was completely obnoxious, time-consuming and stressful.
I warn everyone
Triple check your insurance yourself as this companies bookkeeping and billing made a mess for my wife and I.

They said they would except my insurance, then 4 visits later I get a bill for 2g.
This is a premeditated scam, not some kind of billing mistake.
I had to report them to the FBI, and Attorney General to name a few.
Dirty Bastards!

This is literally SCAM! They asked for my credit card info to schedule an appointment with a doctor, and they never sent me the ZOOM link to join the meeting.

I called several times asking for the link, even 24 hrs before my appointment and NO ONE was able to assist. They put me on hold and they always end up disconnecting my calls. I sent emails and it seems like a machine/computer responds.

This is VERT FRUSTRATING, because now I will have to pay for the "not showing" fee and it was NOT my fault. Please refrain to put your health on the hands of these THIEVES!

Tip for consumers:
The company Happier Living is literally SCAM! It's unfair and no ethic that they play with the time and HEALTH of people

They stopped taking my insurance and told me after my appointment. Won't email me back after the charge. 10 min appointment to get a prescription refill was $285 instead of $10. Would have cancelled if they had bothered to notify me.

Previous review couldn't have said it better "PREDATORY BUSINESS" Get a lawyer if you EVER want to cancel an appointment as scheduling and billing do not communicate. You WILL BE CHARGED even with documentation of cancellation. There is ZERO flex or empathy - they will merely sent an email like the one in the review below and more on without a thought!

Looking back, I should've checked out some reviews before making an appointment. There were a bunch of issues with both the billing process and the clinical approach.

First, they goofed on the billing. They didn't account for what I'd already paid and haven't gotten around to fixing it.

First session: I was billed for a longer session than what we'd actually had; I was booked for 40 minutes, we talked for 40 minutes, but I was billed for a "45+ minute" session. It shot my bill up to $295 out-of-pocket, rather than the $250 I was originally quoted (on top of my insurance)

Second session: Instead of being okay with a shorter (less than 40 minute) second session, Dr. Donald Wells seemed not to be okay with a medication refill without a lengthy therapy session (for what I guess would be another 40/45+ minute session). Strangely, I've been getting my medication for over twenty years, and never before has someone turned it into a therapy session, let alone a nurse practitioner (NP).

Even if I didn't have to pay a hefty fee and lose work time for it I really didn't need a therapy session, and with an NP? If I needed a buddy to chat with, I'm sure I could find a cheaper one and not have to pull time away from work (and I like my work:)

I recently switched over from Kaiser to a PPO and I'm not happy with United Healthcare, or Happier Living for that matter. I can't shake the feeling that I'm seen more as a paycheck than a patient by the insurance company and these practitioners.

I found Happier Living when looking for a local psychiatrist. Not only did they not have an office in my city as I was led to believe, but they only offered to match me with a psychiatrist on the EAST coast, three hours ahead of me. The ONLY appointment options were before 8am. I contacted support multiple times and could not get a straight answer about how to change to a provider with time slots that worked for me, so I went through with the initial appointment. I liked the provider so decided to try to deal with the scheduling issues.

Unfortunately, due to medication side effects, I slept through the next appointment. I haven't missed an appointment in years and was embarrassed, but I apologized, promised it wouldn't happen again, and rescheduled. I was fined FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS for this FIRST-TIME missed appointment! I've never encountered anything like this at any doctors office in my life.

On top of all this, I then found out that they've been double billing both me and my insurance. There are hundreds of reviews of them doing the same things to other people. PLEASE don't make the same mistake I did!

Tip for consumers:
If you do sign up for Happier Living, please be sure to read ALL the fine print. I trusted them and regret it so much!

I have to agree with the comments above. This has been one of the poorest, saddest experiences I have dealt with in terms of seeking mental health therapy. To be told you are approved, then after several sessions be told you were out of pocket, is horrible to be blindsided with. Especially as I had actually found a therapist who I had a good rapport with.

The coldness of Hardloop (payment organization used by Happier Living) literally floored me with how callous and I feeling their communications were. No working with me on find a solution or resolution, just pay us or automatically deduct ludicrous amounts for your provided account. I cannot state how much of a hardship this caused me. This has actively made me want to never pursue any mental health counseling in the future. I am disheartened to say the least.

For your own sanity and emotional health, find another provider that is upfront about their services, billing, and insurance coverage. This organization does not want to work with you and could care less about how their communications could affect an already affected persons mental health.

I recently joined a therapist in Happier Living and had two initial sessions. Suddenly, I received notification for allegedly missing a scheduled session and my credit card was charged without my consent. However, I had never scheduled this session.
It is unbelievable to be charged for missing an appointment that I did not schedule myself. My attempts to resolve the issue were very frustrating. Everything has to be sent to them in writing. No live conversation. No customer service support. No-one to speak to. I attempted many times to explain the situation (in writing) and asked for my credit card to be refunded but in vain. When I called them, I was told to keep submitting the issue in writing. I wish I had read other reviews for predatory-billing as well as surprise-billing before signing up with them. These are absolutely correct.

DO NOT BOOK AN APPOINTMENT WITH THESE SCAMMERS! I BOOKED AN APPOINTMENT, GOT THE ZOOM LINK EMAILED TO ME (PROOF OF THE SUPPOSED BOOKED APPOINTMENT) WAITED THE ENTIRE APPOINTMENT TIME, ONLY TO HAVE THE "THERAPIST" COME ON AT THE LAST MOMENT TO SAY "OH, I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE AN APPOINTMENT BOOKED WITH YOU". REALLY?!?!? I CANCELLED MY CREDIT CARD SO THAT THEY WILL BE UNABLE TO CHARGE ME, AND I ALSO CANCELLED THE 18 MONTHS OR SO OF APPOINTMENTS THAT THEY BOOKED ON THEIR WEBSITE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION! THEY ARE PREYING ON PEOPLE WHO TRULY NEED HELP! DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT BOOK ANY APPOINTMENTS WITH THESE SCAMMERS! PICTURES BELOW AS PROOF OF ZOOM. APPT WAS FOR 10:10AM EST.
