“Don't fall into their $19 trap!”

Cece F.
3/3/24

Don't believe the $19/hr hype; you are immediately locked into a 6 month membership from day one and if you attempt to cancel, you are charged the full price of the membership. The fees kept coming. Bait and switch, scammers, liars, con artists, etc. None of this is shown when you start services. The cleaners that cleaned my elderly parent's home in Feb 2024 showed up on time did a good job; it's the company that's the problem. Buyer beware!

Beware of these scammers. They will do whatever they need to do to scam you. Their low price advertise is a trap, there are lots of hidden fees you will discover after your first appointment. You cannot even cancel your membership without paying six months of fees which is nowhere mentioned earlier. They would charge you $50 per hour but they would pay $15 to the cleaner.

I recently hired Homeaglow for a cleaning service, enticed by their advertised offer of 3 hours for $19. However, my experience quickly turned sour.

Not only were we charged an additional $190 in fees, but the cleaner only spent 2 hours on the job. Instead of diligently working, she seemed more engrossed in her phone and music. Despite our explicit requests, none of the agreed-upon tasks were completed.

This deceptive pricing and lackluster service have left me thoroughly dissatisfied. I caution others to carefully consider their options before choosing Homeaglow for any cleaning needs.

Tip for consumers:
This is a scam

I have been working for Homeaglow for the past 4 month. I have had nothing but problems with this company. They are always trying to get out of paying. My latest battle is the fact I finished cleaning my clients home. Now they are saying I didn't. I have submitted all the required documents and have been trying to contact someone for over a wk. I have heard nothing yet. If you can do it your better off going out on your own. I do not recommend this company to a good reliable cleaner.

They lure you with a cheap intro price, then they charge you an annual fee and if you are grossly disappointed like I was, they charge you a cancellation fee. I had two cancellations from them after I made arrangements to be home for the first cleaning, then they sent someone else who was nice but did a sad job and brought a teenage daughter with her to do cleaning. I booked a four hour cleaning for a 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bath job. They never wiped down my kitchen counter tops or cabinets, they mopped around throw rugs in bedrooms, never moved the kitchen chairs to vacuum or mop, never wiped down the kitchen table, and the list goes on and on! Then she left early, (just a bit after 3 hours) My initial fee of $39 plus the annual plan of $49 plus the cancellation (full price) cleaning fee of $144.75. Totally pathetic experience. I have complained repeatedly and demanded monies be refunded and they are ignoring me. I have contacted my credit card to dispute the charge. DO not use Homeaglow!

Do not use this company. It is a scam. They do not actually sign you up for the membership despite charging me for it. I never got any discount and am being charged a bunch of extra fees when I book like a $15/hr homeaglow fee for your service on top of the rate for the cleaner. This fee is not disclosed anywhere on the website. This morning, despite me reaching out for support on how to actually activate my membership yesterday, the account was canceled and I was charged $375 as a cancellation fee on top of everything else I've already been charged. They do not have any live support and the website is extremely convoluted, which is likely done to achieve this end. I have no doubt this company is violating many consumer protection laws and if this is not resolved, I will be filing an FTC complaint. I have already reached out to the BBB.

This site will at first seem like a great deal, and then it will go to Not A Bad Thing, then it will feel like a scam more and more.

The misleading information given to the clients is"professional cleaners with their own equipment and supplies," "can focus on areas of your concern (making it a deep clean at a basic clean price,) and placed absurd demands on independent contractors while taking $5 an hour from them for marketing fee, charging them to get paid fast, and suspending and charging a reinstatement charge for every little complaint a client will have.
They grossly underestimate the amount of time it takes for a person, by themselves, to do a first-time clean.
Giving a lot of bad first experiences to clients.
And the one person cleaning doesn't make enough to bring a second person. At 19 an hour minus 5 and hour, it's almost not worth going to a property for less than 6 hours of cleaning.

The people you hire on this platform to clean your house are independent contractors, and marketing is expensive, and finding people to clean for is difficult without a website like this.

Tip for consumers:
Looks on Nextdoor App for independent cleaners that would be more than happy to clean for a nice discount compared to larger companies. They're the same people who get sucked into working for a bs plat like this, anyway.

All Homeaglow customers, please check your credit card statement, even if have only used them once for house cleaning service.
I used them once last year in March and just checked my statement to find that HOMEAGLOW FOREVERCLEAN has been cleaning out my account. Charging my account $49.00 every month after that one service. On the statement you will find, there's no address or phone number.
They run nationwide advertisements, and I'm sensing that, my experience is not unique. If nationwide, they are "accidentally" charging a million customers $50.00 per month, that equals $50,000,000 x 12 months $600,000,000. Unfortunately, most people won't even realize they're being charged recurringly.
There are a lot of unscrupulous businesses out there, we all need to be careful.
I have put in a dispute for the charges with the credit card company.
I'll let you know what happens.

Saw their constant ads on TV and decided to try them because I'm in a wheelchair and it's hard to clean my apartment by myself.

For the kitchen, I said, "All I want done is the sink, microwave and floor cleaned."

She spent 2 hours washing my dishes, that were already clean, and never touched my dirty microwave.

Didn't touch the inside of my fridge (even though she reached inside and grabbed a pop so she had to see it needed some wiping. Their website mentions wiping down the inside of the fridge).

Didn't have to vacuum because I did that before she came over here. Didn't have to clean my stove as I got a brand new one just that morning. Didn't have to spend time dusting anything in the bedroom or living room as I told her not to worry about it.

What I'm most upset about, though, is I told her my main priority was my bathroom as it's next to impossible for me to clean from my wheelchair. The bathtub walls still had some soap scum on them and the soap holder attached to the wall wasn't even touched and had gunk all over it.

The one thing I can do myself is my dishes. I did not pay someone to come over and do that. I paid for someone to come over and clean the stuff that I can't, especially my bathroom and microwave, yet she spent a ton of time cleaning my already clean dishes instead when I told her not to worry about them.

I even tipped her $20 when she left before checking if she actually did what I asked because I just assumed she did.

To make this 10,000 times worse, when I left my review on Google, I noticed lots of people report about getting scammed. Guess I should have read those first. Lots of people said they were automatically signed up for a membership and if they tried to cancel it, got hit with a $200 fee.

They charged my card another $49 the day after my "cleaning."

I want to know how/why the owner of this place isn't in jail and the company isn't shut down...especially since they are doing this all over the country.

I reached out to the company 10 times about this but never got a reply.

This has been an unbelievable, airtight scam.

The website offers discounts with the foreverclean membership. They say we will have to pay the full price of the cleaning if we cancel the membership, which appears to be $150.

When trying to cancel, we are charged $230, fees which the company claims to have told us about at the time of purchase.

I placed a dispute with my credit card company for the $230 that I had to pay to get out from under the forever clean program. My dispute was denied, despite providing many screenshots of the website and "the fine print" explicitly mentioned on the website before purchase. The company uses screenshots from some other source—not where I signed up—which imply that I knew exactly what I was signing up for. No amount of evidence provided could strengthen my case with the credit company after Homeaglow's documentation.

What's more, when I placed my dispute, homeaglow immediately sent an email claiming that my money was refunded. This, I later found out from my credit card company, was not true.

When we sign up we apparently sign away our right to a class action lawsuit, though that's exactly what this situation needs. It's an enraging, elaborate scam. I feel so powerless.

Help yourself. Do not use this service

Scam! Report to the BBB! Deceptive pricing! Do not believe the commercials! Nothing is real. If you purchase a cleaning from them they lock you into a 6 month membership and charge an early termination fee, if you cancel before the time is up. They won't tell you the amount of the fee. I was swayed because their price for a 6 hour cleaning seemed like a deal but i was wrong. The cleaner did a horrible job and didn't clean the floors or dust properly. I immediately let the company know and they told me I should give the cleaner a negative review and request a partial refund from her. Before I left the review, I was called by the cleaner and given a sob story. She said she did the best she could and the company told her to call me. Of course I felt bad so i didn't leave her a negative review because i didn't want to destroy her livelihood. The company blocked that cleaner from accepting any future cleaning jobs from me but little did i know, no other cleaners were available in my area and i was unable to continue using the service. I contacted the company and they did little to help but they continued to charge me monthly. I canceled the membership and they charged me an almost $300 early termination fee. I disputed the fee with my credit card company. The company then sent me an email saying they wanted me to be happy and would refund the termination fee but then they refused to actually do it. This is a scam. They charge you for a service they may be unable to provide and then charge you if you cancel. They are just stealing money and if you get service it's likely you'll get a subpar cleaning plus the price isn't real because cleaners get to set their own hourly price. Don't use this service!

The cleaning lady is good and nice. But Homeglow company has hidden fees that was not clear at the beginning. Also, the company doesn't care and they are not responsible. My case, the co. Gave a wrong address to the cleaning lady, lead to my appt was canceled because the lady was an hour far away. They did not let me know promptly that they canceled my appointment, they let me waited... I cancel subscription because they didn't give the good customer service and unclear fee. And THE THING THAT THEY WANNA CHARGE ME $223 FOR THE UNSUBSCRIBE FEE!?
The very first time they gave me 5 hours cleaning service and charged me $53 and $49. (I had no idea what $49 for because they didn't let me know at the beginning.)
All together they wanna charge me $325 for 5 hours. Wow! $65/hour! How do you think

Last 2 cleaners cancelled on me 10min before the cleaning appts. The last one said she would be a little late, but 1 and 1/2hrs is not a little late. Instead, she rescheduled for today, and then didn't show up. Her excuse was she thought I had cancelled which means I could be on the hook for the full 4hrs of cleaning time, but I have the text receipts. Each time, I pre-clean for these people. I treat them with respect; I give very generous gratuities. My life gets put on hold as I will not leave my dogs alone w/a stranger in the house. And, each time, in all honesty, the level of cleaning has been sub-par. It's not work anyone should be proud of (and we keep a clean home!). Yet, I have been loathe to write any mediocre reviews for these workers. Please don't use Homeaglow. They trap you for 6mos, and w/all the cancellations, it's just stress, headaches, $$$, and half-a__ed work.
