“Awesome!”

Just to understand this brand your should understand the philosophy of this brand. This brand makes your hair like you just visit professional salon. Kevin Murphy has products for different hair care priorities, but the best thing I find in that products is that they repair hair and even from the most dry and damaged hair. The results don't lie. The response to Kevin Murphy products has been largely positive, resulting in healthier hair all around.

“TERRIBLE WASTE OF MONEY!”

I bought 75 dollars worth of Angel Wash for Blondes. Horrid products! I used the regular a while back at a friend's and it seemed fine. The bottles were small and the products are no better than off brand dandruff shampoo for 3 dollars at your local dollar store! I'm done with Kevin Murphy!

Great service with excellent products. Firstly about my thoughts concerning products of this brand. I use shampoo and conditioner from the Plumping series, which promised to make my hair more voluminous and thicker. I have thick stright and very long hair, that's why the problem with volume is the most important one, my hair is also very smooth and heavy and it does not hold any volume at all. So using this shampoo with conditioner for more than 3 weeks I cn say that these products are first one that really create volume and it lasts not only for 10 minutes after drying, but though all day. Of course the problem is that this shampoo is sulfate-free, so I use once a week shampoo with acids for deep cleansing effect.
And now about the customer service, which is the greatest among all customer service of the brands I have been ever used. They contacted me so quick, recommended these procuts which might be helpful for me and told about shipping and return service!

My long time hairstylist turned me on to Kevin Murphy's product & I've hardly looked back.

My hair is interesting... it's not quite curly because I've had so many treatments over the years, but it does get frizzy. I use a flat iron, but because it's also a fine texture, it's hard to find products that work well.

That's when Sarah introduced me to KM's beach texturizer. It gives me the intentionally messy sex hair' look I love with perfection.

I highly recommend KM products!

I love the matchmaker quiz. It gets you the products needed just for you. Incredible and I agree with this one. Great site.

Some of KM products are good-no fabulous products (all of the Angel and Hydrate line as well as the repair me line and most of their styling products). I had been using them for over 10 years. However during the pandemic myself and some salon owners that I spoke to mentioned that the products were different. Not in a bad or even most noticeable way but for someone who uses them daily on clients and hearing clients complaints, there was some difference in texture, color and fragrance of a few of the washes in particular. During covid we are all well aware that there were shortages and supply chain issues that were out of everyone's control. I don't believe anyone would fault any brand for sourcing ingredients where they could if those ingredients were similar and didn't change the product. Nor would I have taken issue had they been upfront or at least honest when asked, but they weren't and they lied and blamed the clients and distributors.

Moving on to 2021 and 2022, KM started releasing a lot of new products at one time. The issue is that a lot of these products did not live up to their hype or high price tag. Basically they repackaged a lot of what they already had and slapped some buzzwords on the bright new packaging but the products themselves were quite inferior and some were downright damaging. And this is not due to using the products incorrectly or the wrong product for a particular hair type or having damaged hair or anything of that nature. I heard a lot of complaints in the industry specifically about their new Everlasting Colour line. Everyone that I spoke to hated it. And it was more expensive than other washes and rinses that they sell. The main issue that I take is that these products were highly pushed on people and salons with a lot of promises and were not available in a trial size/small format. On top of this, KMs longstanding practice of not allowing returns made for a lot of upset customers. I fully understand that for a business (I am a small business owner myself) returns can hit your bottom line and are costly. However if you truly stand behind your product allowing a small number of controlled returns on products does a few things. 1) it indicates to your customers that you actually do believe in the product that you are selling. 2) it shows that you value your customers and want to make them satisfied 3) it allows you as a business to get a clear picture of what products are actually doing well in the market and what products people do not like - and this 3rd point helps a company determine much more quickly than waiting for sales numbers, etc. as to whether or not they should tweak a product or discontinue it. Especially with a new product launch because your initial sales are going to be high, and a drop off in sales might come much later and can be attributed to other factors. Allowing for a customer to return a product- even if only for a store credit which in turn forces them to purchase something more suitable and keeping the funds at KM let's KM know much further in advance as to whether that product is eventually going to be profitable. The alternative is to wait a few years (and I bet you in about 3 years this line is either going to be discontinued, replaced completely or relaunched with different ingredients because it is a truly awful line). KM does not discontinue products often and in the past had sound business practices. I'm honestly not sure what has happened recently but they are getting too big for their britches in my opinion.
But setting all of that aside, the absolute worst thing they are doing and doing so publicly is they are blaming the customer. Remember when Drunk Elephant did that? It didn't go over well with most people in the industry. You can't be rude to your customers and call them stupid and tell them that the issue could not possibly be with their products but rather that the customer is obviously using it wrong or it isn't the proper product for them without also offering any sort of support or solution to make that customer whole and feel appreciated. Companies have gotten to the point where they don't care if they lose customers because they know they can just launch a new marketing campaign and pay influences to lie and they will Garner a whole new set of one time customers. It is fast fashion meets haircare.

It is a shame really because years ago this was such a wonderful brand and company and now they have become greedy and money hungry. And yes I do take issue with that even if I am in the minority. I know of 4 salons now (1 in DE, 2 in NC and 1 in FL) who have decided to discontinue selling this brand because of their business practices. I know even more consumers who have opted to use other brands as well.

They are likely just setting themselves up to sell out to a larger company like all of those innovators before them did and that is their prerogative, but they have sullied their reputation in the process just like every other sellout brand. Again, I am absolutely not opposed to anyone making money, but if their products are so superior and they want people to believe that they should stand by it. There are ways to curb return abuse so that excuse is not valid.

Products used:
I have used them all at some point. Even ones that have since been discontinued. The products for the most part are good to excellent but when one isn't good, the company won't take responsibility and stand by their product. They are also rude if you review the product poorly and blame the client.
