“THE MUCKLESHOOT CASINO PROFILED US! DONT GO THERE!”

Azure F.
8/9/23

This is by far the WORST Casino and event I have ever seen and been apart of. This place paired up with the Super Smash Bros Community to host an esports event and tournament and everything sounds like it would be okay if it wasn't for the fact of a bunch of gamers under 21 are at a Casino. So, security was outrageously tight and unwelcoming. Entering the Casino itself you have to show your ID / DL before coming inside, if you was there to gamble it was okay you just continue about your business. If you were there for the gaming event unfortunately that's where the chaos started. On Saturday one of our players from Mexico was denied entrance to the event because of not having a ID or DL that belonged to the US. This man flew about 6 to 7 hours from Mexico to get turned around at the door and had to argue with these security guards as if he didn't just fly here. Now, I don't do rocket science or anything but something tells me if security at an airport is letting him on a plane with his passport and he can get an okay from them, then there's no way a Casino should have stricter rules than an airport. I'll link his Tweet about his experience here as well because it's also very awful and heartbreaking when I'm done telling my experience with these same people. Every single day the security was getting more and more intense on us. Day 1 I hardly was bothered and the place seemed fine but by day 3 at noon I was frustrated to the point I wouldn't ever go back in my entire life. By Sunday we were getting ID'd and bag checked every time we go anywhere within the Casino itself besides the room where the games were located. We couldn't even purchase things within the Casino and bring them back there or purchase things within the venue and bring them back out to the Casino floor. You could buy food and walk around everywhere in the Casino with it BESIDES where we was located or you can get water in the game area and soon as you got by security to go to even the bathroom they would make you throw it away or pour it out. When coming to the game arena from outside, you got your bag checked twice even get to that area and even if you walked out to use the bathroom you would have to get it checked another time. Some people were getting bag checked on the way in and out of the set location & it made everything really difficult especially when you keep having to throw your own food, snacks and drinks away even if you just purchased them 2 mins ago. I personally had the biggest issues with the bag checkers because day 1 and 2 coming inside of the Casino itself they wasn't haggling me too much and I left the venue numerous times even during those days so I was prepared for the checked down spots... So I thought. On the 3rd day of this event (Sunday Nov. 13th 2022) I was proceeding inside of the Casino me and one of my fellow players and carpool for the event we split up at the entrance line and both security guys "attempt" the same check down process with us. Typically we go to a table behind these guys and get our bags opened quickly then proceed in, but not this time for some reason. We hand over our IDs at the same time basically and open our bags which mostly has similar things inside of both, we both have controllers, cables, phone chargers etc., but mine has a few other things since I traveled from Louisiana all the way to Washington state, the opposite corner of the US. So I tell the guy at the door "Hey, I have a pillow and some shoes inside of my of my bag as well". Trying to make the process faster and being honest with the guy right at the jump. He looks at me in a rude manner and tells me "Take that out so I can see your things inside". I calmly ignored the rude look and removed the pillow that's sitting on top of all my items. Before I even had chance to find a place to put it he raises his voice at me and asks me hey why is this in there? I reply those are my shoes. I'm wearing house slippers & in-case it rains I have my shoes also. Then he replies "Hey, can you take those out too?" At this point he's being an jerk So I get annoyed and just hand him the bag and tell him to check it himself. I cant hold everything and dig inside at the same time, I have 2 hands not 20. He replies to me no, he can't touch my bag or my stuff, its not allowed. So then I ask him why are you doing all this then? My friends have already showed their IDs and got their bag checked literally 2 feet behind me in half the time it's taking me, why is he making ME do all this extra stuff? And he tells me because he has to see, then repeats "Can I look at what's inside of your bag?" Okay, now I'm angry so I tell him "Sure." with a big smile on my face and I turn my bag upside down, emptying the top items out of it which are my shoes, battery pack, phone charger all on top of his feet while he is standing there holding my ID still. At this point, tension is high and the people in line behind me & my friend are even noticing what's going on. He tilts his head inside the bag to check the last few items and is still being an jerk and he asks me, "Hey, what's that? Can you open that up?" I reply dude it's a beanie. I lift up the beanie and open it shake it in front of everyone to show him I have nothing inside and people start laughing at the situation because it's started being more of a comedy routine than an actual "routine check". After that, the only things I have left inside of the bag are my controllers and vax card. He still asks me "Hey what's that white thing right there?" Now I'm loudly making fun of him saying "OMG DUDE IT'S A VAX CARD. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IS? Do you want me to cut it in half so you can check inside of the plastic or paper?" Everyone is laughing and noticing the scene that's going on while I'm still very annoyed. He tells me, "Oh so all you have left is your controllers?" I reply "Yes, do you want me to open those too?" while laughing a bit. He says "No, you're good to go." but I'm very annoyed and half of my stuff is still on the floor. So I look at him in front of everyone and ask him, "Hey can you at least pick my shoes back up? Or my hand me my ID back?" And he tells me no, he cant touch any of my stuff. Now I'm even more annoyed so I asked if he is sure he's sure he doesn't want to look inside of my shoes as well just to make I'm not smuggling bubble gum inside of them. I do like to chew gum sometimes, I don't want you to get in trouble for letting me in with gum. Since people are laughing at my remarks publicly in front of him now he tells me "Sir I said you are good to go inside and if you keep this up I will change my mind". I'm still angry and I reply to him again anyways and tell him, "Hey look I'm just trying to help you out, you act like you have to check all of MY stuff not anyone else's so I'm making sure you got everything checked. He then tells me go on and go play some games, he hopes I win. By this point my friend is helping me pick up my stuff and is pulling me away from the security guy. Now after all this you would think it's all over, right? NO, it's not. After we get around the corner to the game area they have another bag check and ID stop, but the woman in the back is actually doing it at a table. Soon as I walk up she asks "Can I check your bag?" I just hand her my bag, she removes my pillow, shoes, then shines a flash light inside and says, "Okay you're good to go". I look at my friend and say, "WHY CANT EVERYONE DO THEIR JOB LIKE THAT?!" The woman doesn't know what I'm referring to but my friend is laughing and just tells her thanks and we proceed to go inside. To keep it short though, by this point I don't even want to be there anymore. Not long after we get inside we leave and even still I have to get my ID and bag checked again on the way out. I can assure you that I will never step another foot inside of the Muckleshoot Casino again and they better not let me find out they checked me like that just because I'm black and didn't check my friend that hard because he's white.
