“Terrible Place to Live, Don't Move Here! Slumlords!”

Deborah D.
1/26/22

We've been living here since August 2021. Because housing in such short supply, we didn't realize that this apartment does not have a disposal and dishwasher. Take heed. We had a few small issues which were resolved fairly quickly by Kym, the manager. We received notice a month or so ago that the apartment complex had a new owner and manager. I stopped by shortly thereafter with a minor issue and the man sitting in the manager's office told me that a manager had not yet been hired. Since then there apparently IS a manager but NO notice was given to the tenants of this person's name. Almost 4 weeks ago (Monday, 1/3) my husband went to the office to let the manager know that our toilet was leaking from the handle as well as from the top and along the bottom. He had tried to submit an online service request, as we had been able to do in the past, when Kym was manager, but the site no longer functioned. So he had to go in person. The "manager" did NOT write anything down or provide him with a form so he could explain the issue. So we waited. We didn't hear anything, so the next Monday, 1/10, he again stopped at the office to make the same request. The manager told him that they were short staffed and behind in making repairs. However, we never had that problem when Kym/former owner were in charge. The following Monday, 1/17, I stopped at the office to make the same request. The manager seemed surprised to hear about our toilet problems and said the handyman was off for the day but they would send a plumber despite the cost to them. However, as of Monday, 1/24, nothing had been done. My husband stopped by that day and there was a note on the door that the office staff was out with Covid. So there is NO ONE available to do ANYTHING. In addition, the dumpster near our apartment building has been overflowing for the past 5 weeks with bags of trash and loose trash all over the ground. When I spoke to the manager last week and told her that the dumpster hadn't been emptied, she seemed surprised. Why is the manager so clueless? The dumpster has since been emptied but there are bags of garbage lining the sides of the dumpster, I've seen squirrels make off with pizza crusts that were apparently thrown on the ground, and we've seen a dead rat near our car. Does anyone care about the way this place looks? The parking lot is littered with pizza boxes, emptied six-pack containers, cigarette butts and packs. Yes, smoking is allowed here. Yuk. I can't wait to find out what wonderful aromas will be filling the air when it gets warmer and the garbage that's been piling up outside the dumpster REALLY starts to rot! DO NOT MOVE HERE! YOU WILL REGRET IT!
