Offered up started as a great site to find items that was reasonably difficult to find. However in the last year or two it has become more of a time waster, unless you want to give your stuff away at half of what it is worth. I personally have a diamond tester that I bought two of on accident, so I decided to list it on here. Well I listed it for $15.00, and I have had 9 people email me about dropping the price to $10.00. In the description I have specifically said "BRAND NEW, NEVER USED JUST TESTED TO MAKE SURE IT WORKS". However I believe people don't know how to read, or are too lazy to read the description, because every time I get that same annoying question. I feel like being a pompous jerk and leaving sarcastic remarks to that question, but I let it go and tell them to read the description. That is just one example of a VERY low price, and it still is not good enough for the people on Offered up.
This is just one thing wrong, the other thing is that, when people want to buy things (as per Offered up suggestion... DON'T MEET AT YOUR HOME), but when I tell them where I meet to make my deals, I get one of two reactions... I will no longer receive any further emails from the potential buyer, or they will set up a time to meet and have you sitting there for an hour or more and never show up.
Another thing is that the prices have either doubled or tripled for some reason. EXAMPLE: I was looking for a MIG welder and found one rather quickly, but in speaking to the seller about their item I was told "my little brother got on my computer and put the wrong price. He wanted three times the amount for his/her used one than buying a one off another website. It is this way on most any item that you want.
As far as the site itself, It is ok, but the people in charge need to put a cap on what a person charges for an item, and make a punishment for wasting a persons time for not showing up for a barter/sell. If you are to use the website (as I still do but I am very cautious about things). Just be cautious about the "SHADY PEOPLE" and you may have fun.
