“Great service for models and photographers!”

Kristin S.
11/27/18

One Model Place has been a great resource for me as a fairly new model in the industry. I have been able to connect with photographer and agencies and have had great experiences so far. I have been able to find paid modeling opportunities in my area and recently won third place in an online modeling contest with them! I am very happy with their services and would definitely recommend them to existing or aspiring models and photographers. There are different levels of membership but the free one has worked just fine for me :)

I'm an artist and photographer. I was a paying member for a couple of years and then dropped out of photographing models for a couple years. I'm getting back into it and attempted to rejoin OMP. The single thing that stopped me was their search engine. They changed how to filter data and what's worse, you can't limit the distance from the models to the photographer. Traveling now with COVID makes this shortcoming even worse than it was before. Having to sift through dozens of resumes to find ones that are local is a pain, so I didn't go back on the site.

At one time One Model Place (OMP) was THE place where models and photographers networked.

It was displaced by Model Mayhem (MM) which was easier to use.

Pity.

The moderators at OMP were reasonable creatures unlike the sub-human pigs at Model Mayhem.

Maybe the site will come back.

But I doubt it.

I've never found any work from this website. The listings are very broad, "a fashion industry professional in our community wants you to apply to their casting", etc. I was recently almost scammed by a man that was impersonating another company. He sent me two contracts (that looked very legitimate), and an email of the itinerary that I would follow on our shoot date. I only found out that it was a scam when I contacted the company directly, which they later reported the scammer to the fbi.
There's no sense of regulation on this site, anybody can post anything and get away with it. Stay away.

Subscribed for 3 month and got no reply to any contact I sent out. Turned out most are fake profiles. The site is based on taking your Credit Card info for monthly billing. The first red flag is they don't accept Paypal and need your credit card info. So found out the hard way that the website content is bogus and all they needed is your money. Sent them email for cancellation and received a week later an offer coupon to use the site for free for 2 month. A week later, after insisting, I get email saying will cancel. To my surprise, they still billing my bank 19.95 monthly. Now have to report fraudulent charges and waist my time dealing with these crooks that run fake content website,

I belonged to this site starting 1999, my number was 6390 in "Photographers", I saw a rapid decline in the business and left 10 years later, I rejoined last year hoping it was better, it was not, I tried to cancel and have been trying with emails and no response, three months later they are still charging my card, the bank is now involved. The phone number is phony and connects you to a number operated out of the UK. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE Sincerely Michael, Platinum *******@yahoo.com

Tip for consumers:
My only tip is RUN, this site is no longer legitimate.

Products used:
There are no products, it's a photographer/modeling site.

This is a non-functional site. I had issues from the day one. I tried $9.99/month subscription. After charging me and setting up the recurring charges I found that my account was deactivated. After emails to support and few days wait I received email that they activated my account. I requested cancelation and refund. Received email confirming cancelation. Refund never happened. Even though I deactivated recurring charges on PayPal, next month they charged me again. I am disputing charges with PayPal now. If they do not refund I will have to close my PayPal account.

OMP is a ghost company that provides no way to delete accounts over 10yrs old that still makes $$ from posting old photos that misrepresent the former model AND the website. It's the equivalent of the nasty drunken uncle that tries to touch his nieces.

When you try to contact them via the posted contact page, the page displays for a few seconds (or until you click to enter text), then spins out to a generic WELCOME BACK splash page to log in.

Disregard this website unless you want to use it like the WAYBACK MACHINE. Notify me if you're enacting a class action lawsuit against them.

Tip for consumers:
I had to go to the bank to report charges AFTER I cancelled my account over a decade ago, AND I deleted all of my photos and content. Here it is, years later, all my pix and content is online again, with no way to remove it.

Had a full paying membership. Unable to contact models. All my messages returned to my inbox and not to the models. Models I know on the site tried to contact me, and messages did not come through either. Contacted the site several times and told the problem would be corrected. Never was. Do not waste your time or money on this site.

Since site was revamped last year it is a total disaster. Can not post any casting calls as a paid member. Customer support is not responsive. After six months and many unanswered emails I requested a refund... no answer to that either. Stay away!

Not the site it used to be. The new owners did not know what they were doing when they took over this site. They changed the layout way too many times and made it complicated to use. In doing this they lost a lot of long term loyal members.

I began receiving inappropriate emails from a fake account. I reported the emails and nothing was done. I then came to discover it was actually an admin member who was sending these emails (surprise surprise, hence why the account remained). I then figured out this person was more than just admin.

My entire inbox got deleted. I lost everything. And it appears my account has now been deleted because I can't find my portfolio and can't log on. Fortunately my card expired and I was issued a new card so the site can't continue to charge me.

Real shame. As someone else said, this used to be the number one site around.

My girlfriend used this website to get some really good freelance work in our area. I took some shoddy photos and then she posted them online and despite my poor technique she got a few cheap gigs. Then she used those photos to get more gigs.

Purchased a Silver membership a month ago and have been unable to either gain access to my profile and it still asks me to upgrade. Emailed customer service (lol) and left messages but nothing has been done. I had my money credited back to me. Seriously, stay away from the website.

A week ago I signed up for OMP and uploaded my images and provided my credit card. They said it would take two days to review the profile. Two days later after I saw my profile was not yet reviewed I sent in a customer service ticket and I received the following:

----

We would like to acknowledge that we have received your request and a ticket has been created.
A support representative will be reviewing your request and will send you a personal response.(usually within 24 hours).

Thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,

OMP CS Team

----

It has now been 10 days and NOTHING. My profile has not been approved and no response to my customer service ticket, but they did charge my credit card.

Stay away - poor service and by taking my money and not providing me the service I paid for - thieves!

Just found out that even after receiving a message from them stating my premium membership had been cancelled (August 2016) my bank account is still being charged as of December 10th. Nobody ever answers their phone and email responses are in the form of a ticket. I am reporting them for fraud.

Since you cannot see ANYTHING on their site before signing up I took the risk and paid the monthly fee instead of the yearly fee.
Glad I did!

There are 4 models within a 100 mile radius of me. I entered in a couple other zip codes with a 100 mile radius of big large cities and same thing just a handful of less than stellar models (I can find the same models on modelmayhem to be honest).

I will be watching my account to make sure I am NOT charged again as I see a lot of bad reviews for being charged after canceling. I hope that doesn't happen. Will update this if it does.

I have been a customer of this website for over 10 years. And currently renewed my yearly subscription with them. I have a Bronze Membership with them and have had my account Under Review with them for over 3 months. I can no longer make compliments or network with others. Because my profile is only for approved account holders. This has been happening for quit some time and I have sent emails to have the problem addressed. But to no avail. If I type my name into the address bar I no longer have a URL with the company. So I cannot link my listing to any of my websites. So I simply will say this site is a site who will take your money and not comply with the terms of there contract obligations. Basically they stole from me.

I joined this website in the hopes of networking to a broader audience... ask and you shall receive, I guess.

I specified in my profile bio that I don't shoot nude or erotic photos, and within the first few days of my account being active, I had two people attempt to solicit me to do a nude shoot, one of whom now expects me to make a 15 hour trek to do a lingerie shoot with him and refuses to provide references because he "promised the girls secrecy." All that tells me is that you are either not proud of your work or you're afraid of what people will say when they review you -- neither of which are good signs.

I had a man demand my contact information to discuss a "video" he wanted to do with me, and when I asked for details about the video, explaining that I do not give out contact information until I know what exactly your game plan is, he not only ignored my question but responded by being pushy about calling me.

I had a very unskilled amateur photographer insist that I do a TF shoot with him, despite me explaining that I no longer do TF work unless it's for a publication or another addition to my portfolio, because he's making a "calendar of models that's being published" by some company that doesn't even exist. Looked through his portfolio... iPhone photos of inexperienced models who look incredibly uncomfortable.

Just now, I had someone with no username contact me to be a model on their website, called "teasecamgirls" dot net, and when I said no, I'm not a porn star, they insisted explaining that I can just be paid to "hang out and socialize." Meanwhile their website states "get paid to tease," and I'm not an idiot, I know what a cam girl is. Their website asks for photos of your license or passport... totally not sketchy at all, amirite ladies?

I've reported most of these people as scammers or frauds. Their profiles are still active and I have yet to hear anything from moderators.

Needless to say, I'm unbelievably disappointed in my experience with this website thus far. The modeling industry is dangerous enough as it is -- it's rife with frauds, scams, and abuse, and girls can get themselves into seriously awful situations if they aren't careful. It's clear that this website does nothing to filter out the sketchy people and keep people safe. I highly doubt there are even any legitimate photographers on it, and if there are, they're being drowned out by the huge amount of fakes on it.

All I can say is I'm glad I didn't pay for a membership. I just wish I never bothered signing up in the first place.

Tip for consumers:
Don't bother.
