“I got a refund fast!”

Holly R.
1/17/21

Website says no refund but that's not true! I was able to get fully refunded within 48 hours of my initial complaint. I sent emails to *******@careguide.com and demanded a full refund. I wrote that all the emails/job offers that were sent to my account's inbox were all fake and complained that this business is a SCAM and illegitimate. There will be some back and forth from them about the refund, they don't just wanna hand over your money. So fight for your refund and you'll get it.

I saw a listing for a pet sitter on Indeed.com so I clicked on it and it took me to Petsitter.com. I was very interested so I started my profile but I was against paying for the site at first so I didn't go any further. This was early in the day I go to check my email and there were like 5 emails from petsitter telling me that so many people had visited my profile and had job offers for me. So I go to click on the emails and they take me to the pay site. The deal is you can't see or contact who the person with the job offer is until you pay your monthly subscription or your choice of subscription. So I pay for the month and I go back to my profile to look at my job offers. What do I get? NOTHING! It's a SCAM! There are no job offers. There are no legitimate pet owners on the site looking to hire anyone. It's all FAKE! However, there are 100s of people on the site same like you looking for jobs but none can find jobs because there aren't any. This "business" is a legitimate scam. It took me less than 10 minutes playing around the site to realize they played me for a fool and took me money and they offer NO REFUNDS! I canceled my subscription in less than 20 minutes of having it and looked to see if I could get refunded. NOPE! If you look you will see that all subscriptions are non refundable no exceptions. Don't fall for this. I'm going to report to my bank and I'm going to report it on Indeed.com. Don't trust this site! Below is what I wrote them shortly after I canceled I doubt if they'll reply.

I signed up, started messaging people, even talked with a few people. The one call that I did speak with someone sounded okay we were going to set up to meet and meet the animals but then he never got back to me. And I still see his ad on the site. I paid $70 to get a criminal record check fast tracked. Then all of a sudden no one would speak to me and respond to my messages. Further research looking at profiles and English sounds off and most of them say the same thing almost word for word.

I have searched and found many too good to be true job offers. One "pet owner" had a rate of $80 daily per visit. While her map location said St Louis, MO - the description said Texas! Total scam. Don't purchase the extra packages or anything! I had applied to at least 30 requests posted within a week - 0 response! Deleting my account! BEWARE!

This site is a scam. They charged me for a year ad and they've not sent me anything within my city. Everything they send you is either super far away or a very very old listing and the people are no longer interested. It is a total sham. I tried to get my money back and couldn't. Don't waste your

They will show you a bunch of listings very close to you but as soon as you sign up, those are all fake listings.

As soon as I log in, I get an inbox reply for a job offer, but when I go to reply, the site requires me to purchase an unlimited messaging plan. Also, their name doesn't have a link in their name, as normal profiles do. This was VERY odd... and probably a tactic for the website to bait you into paying if you're desperate for the job. I don't know how this business still exists!! Why hasn't the BBB shut them down??!!! Ohhhhh because technically they are based out of Canada! If this business was in the US it would be shut down in a heartbeat! Where do I begin....you pay a monthly fee and what do you get? You get absolutely NO legitimate emails or inquiries for pet sitting jobs! It's ALL scammers and spam trying to get you to give them their personal information! I reached out to customer service and that was pointless!!! No refund and just pocketed my money even though we are in the midst of a pandemic in which my job was shut down so every penny counts for me right now, hence why I was looking for work on this site!
Don't even think of using this site!!
You've been warned!!

I paid the 30 dollars to subscribe to this service in order to message several of the petsitters in my area. No one messages me back. I wrote customer service for a full refund and was told I should wait 2 weeks for a reply and that it's a self service site and I can't expect them to find someone for me. Who said anything about that? I know it's self service, I know how it works. Or should I say, doesn't work. Do not subscribe to this website. It's horrible, customer service is horrible. I will continue to fight to get my refund

Verified purchase

The potential "client" kept asking me for money to pay her bills and for furniture. Her check sent to me for future employment got held for investigation by UPS twice. Each time she wanted me to deduct money from her amount yet to be received to give her money. The other clients were offering $15 for all day services! 20 years ago I received $125 for my pet sitter/boarding services. I am not willing to accept only $15 for overnight boarding services. Have you lost your mind. If you are in need of funds go to a check cashing company or your bank. I am not a loan service.

Tip for consumers:
That it's a scam.

This website won't just let you contact a person. First you have to write what is essentially an advert. After you waste a lot of time doing that and click next, thinking that you can now finally contact someone, you can't. Now it asks you for money, $30 a month and more for a longer time, or you can sign up for basic, which is just supposedly to post a job offer, but it says you can only contact someone if you pay first. I am highly doubtful that even my job offer was or will be posted because getting your money is the primary goal of this website.

I signed and up and paid $30 per month. I was sent prospective pet care applicants. I emailed each one and even tried to phone through their system. Who are these applicants? I am still waiting for a response from their team regarding this issue.

I am a Petsitter. After about a year of having an account and messaging potential clients for more information, I finally got someone to reply back.

You can imagine my frustration when I cannot message back to the client's reply. The site requires you to pay for a premium subscription (cheapest is $32usd) to send more than 1 message.

Being a sitter on Petsitter.com is not a sustainable job if 1) The majority of potential clients ghost you, 2) You can't even get a job if you have to pay to get paid, 3) The only way you can make a decent profit is if you overprice your rates, which is just going to drive away clients, resulting in even less jobs.

Long story short, do not look for petsitting/dog walking jobs on Petsitter.com. Use Rover or Wag. Much more people use those services. I do believe they do charge a $15 yearly fee for background checks, however, it is still better than Petsitter.com's ridiculous $106usd yearly subscription.

The leads are old, extremely infrequent, mostly scams. In my area, the 2nd newest lead was from February, it's mid-July. You don't know when the lead requests were posted so you have no idea if they are even needed. No leads ever reached back to me. WASTE OF MONEY!

I found one good.client but it was like finding a needle in a hay stake. The last 4 service requests were all.spam. The site is riddled with spam so bewhere! They are relentless. Make sure email address matches up to name. Could be different and good way to spot. If someone tells you they are blind or deaf and need you to run an errand, They will string you along trying to hook you. But will not ever get on the phone with you.or meet you. If you have.any question, please press them to speak with you or meet you in person. They will want to.send you a cashier check and offer to.pay you well for your time. It's all a scam.

A lady messaged me asking me to sit for her 3 dogs and that she was out of town and her breeder was going to be bringing a new dog and she wanted to pay him through deposit cheque of $1,500 but she said that her breeder didn't accept deposit cheques (LIE- breeders do accept deposit cheques) and she wanted to send me the money to send to the breeder because her breeder "accepts" e-transfers and she was asking me to send her screenshots of my deposit cheque to see how much my bank can take in and my bank can't take that much, so she ended up asking me to send her my bank information to see if I would send her breeder the money (and I assured her many times that I would) but she kept asking me to send her my bank information! DON'T FALL FOR IT!

Why do they not allow to review with a 0 star? Because this site deserves a 0 star review- they suck!

Pet sitter is nothing more than a crooked company that uses shady sales tactics to sell their services. If you are a pet sitter looking for opportunities, make sure you look elsewhere, and don't even bother signing up for their free service. Once you sign you are a bombarded with emails showing interest in your service. You can reply once a month for free, but after that you will be required to hand over your credit card and upgrade your membership. Once you upgrade your membership you are then able to respond to all your messages (lol)... BUYER BEWARE when you respond to all of those seemingly interested parties, they're no longer interested and don't respond. Pay attention to all of the ads as well, you will see the same ads consistently, even if it's a couple years later. I signed up for a basic account a couple of years back and caught on immediately. If you feel like making a donation go ahead and sign up, but that's about all you are doing!

I hired a pet sitter off of persitter.com. She did a good job the first time when I was gone for a few days so I hired her again when I went for 3 weeks. I came home to a dirty house. When I say dirty I mean she hadn't swept the floor in 3 weeks, there was dog hair everywhere, she broke something in the bathroom and never cleaned it up, a dog pooped on a large stuffed animal and she never cleaned it off, and she left stains on the bedsheets. To top it all off a situation occurred where we had to get the police involved. I will never go with this company again. They allow anyone to say they are pet sitters.

I signed up with this company for one month only. Nothing stated it was a recurring subscription. It was a scam. The replies I got were not safe or reliable people. The company does no verification of the people. I found it to be a total scam. One lady I interviewed sounded like a possible candidate, but called and cancelled the interview saying she hurt her back helping a friend with a garage sale. I was looking for a sitter for a week to look after four cats while we took a trip to Canada. Another one showed up with her young children ages 4 and 6 yrs old. She was in my home for half an hour. Didn't manage to trim my dogs nails, wanted to use my bathtub to give him a bath, and failed to brush him out. She supposedly owned her own business, but didn't actually have a location. She actually took my dog outside on the front lawn and laid on top of him to try and trim his nails. I have a one year old German Sheppard/Husky mix about 70 lbs. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. SOME PEOPLE GET REFUNDS, BUT I WASN'T ABLE TO SO FAR. THEY DELIBERATELY DON'T HAVE A PHONE NUMBER TO REACH THEM. THEY CHARGED ME FOR A SECOND MONTH AFTER I CANCELED MY SUBSCRIPTION. I'M WORKING WITH MY BANK TO GET MY MONEY BACK. I pd $30 for what was supposed to be a one month only fee. They charged me a second month and I canceled the same day, but they have refused to refund my money. IT IS A SCAM.

We used this service when we were looking for a new pet sitter for our animals.
The messages kept coming in and we interviewed a bunch of people through the phone since we were in the process of moving.
Once we moved and got established, we set up a "meeting" interview. So the person could meet our dogs and our cat, in person and us as well.
Everything seemed good and we scheduled when we would need their service.
The time came and it went well for 2 days. Then I got a text message saying they got in a car accident. They said they would still continue to go, but at different times then we had arranged.
I felt bad for the person so I was like, ok as long as the animals are taken care of that works. And I asked if she wanted me to try to hire someone else while I was in another country (smh) but I would if that was the case. She insisted she was good and would keep doing it.
We noticed the times when she came from when she came again to check on them were huge gaps. But we were having someone else come take care of them soon so we didn't mind that much and understood that she might be going to therapy and such.
We needed to travel again in a couple of days and I asked her again if she wanted me to hire someone else, she said she was feeling better and was going to do the job. We even let her use one of our cars since she didn't have a car to come here.
Again, two days go by and then I get a text message saying she was in another car accident. (Really?)
We honestly did not know what to do, she wouldn't come check on them, when she did, she would come once a day and then super late the next day.
Once we got back home there was poop everywhere. Our animals got sick and it was terrible.
When I contacted her and said that this was unacceptable she was super nasty with her response.
Like I said, do not use this service. Before you have to leave everything seems smooth and that you can trust the person, and days after they let you down.
We did not know what to do because we were traveling for our wedding and honeymoon and we had already pre-scheduled this service.
Very disappointed and please do not use it, we do not want other animals to go through this.
