I was a bit leary about purchasing a $435 modem from a internet satellite service company that I knew nothing about, but at the time I had few options to get internet service at my home. I was talked out of installing the original satellite company service that I had signed up for and was persuaded to purchase a modem and the service through Skytecwireless (Oroville, CA). The sales person told me I could get a refund of the modem within 30 days if I cancelled. Two weeks after purchasing the equipment from their 'agent' I was able to be hooked up with a ground coaxial cable service and no longer needed the wireless satellite service. The internet service itself was so-so for the two weeks that I had it. I have cancelled the service and now I'm trying to get at least a partial refund for a return of the modem, but the company will not refund my money, except for $75. They said that they can not reuse the modem, which is bogus. My account is not active and there is no proprietary information on the modem that can be used. If you sign up for this service, be aware that the company will not refund you anything on the modem if you change your mind or it doesn't work for your needs past 5 days. (Why could they refund 18% up to 5 days and nothing past that?). The monthly service is also expensive, and I paid a full month of service without a prorated refund when I cancelled after two weeks. I paid $655 for two weeks of so-so internet service. The reason the owner gave me for not refunding me the money was that he would be out of business if he did that. He should be out of business with this kind of customer service.
