Based on our experience Synergy Orthopedics' business model is to price gouge consumers and scam them into overpaying for medical devices. Contrary to their business statement, the only passion they have for patients is to delve deeper and deeper into their wallets! I would give them 0 stars if that were an option.
My husband had to sign for a post-op knee brace from Synergy just before he went in for surgery and was given no information regarding the price. He was sent home with an Ossur Rebound post-op brace that retails for $150-199. They billed our insurance company $799, who said we were responsible for $530. We called Synergy to dispute the charge, and the person in the billing department offered a 20% discount, which is still grossly over-inflated compared to the actual retail price for this brace.
We were told that the compliance department would be in touch over a month ago, which never happened. We wrote letters disputing the charges, which were ignored. They sent a second invoice again for $530, completely disregarding the discussion with the billing department and our letters.
It's amazing to me that this company continues to bilk patients and grossly-over charge for medical devices! I wish we had known he was going to need a post op brace -- we could have saved a lot of money by purchasing one ahead of time.
If any doctor asks you to sign for one of their products, run far away -- I'm sure you could get the same device for a fraction of the cost elsewhere.
Save your money and avoid Synergy Orthopedics and anyone who recommends them.
0 star rating from our family. We have a similar situation as another reviewer - they charged us $484 up front (October, 2017) for a CPM machine and then they were paid the same from our insurance company (November, 2017) and now they owe us a refund of $434 (cost less $50 deductible). It's February, 2018 and we can't get through to an intelligent person - they just keep telling us it will be another 60 days until we get a refund. Nobody has any authority but no supervisor will assist. CHOP told us to use Synergy so I'm now going to CHOP to find out why they do business with this company. These guys are holding our funds... Update: CHOP reached out to Synergy on Feb. 26th and they claimed the check is in the mail - no check was delivered and Synergy admitted that no check was cashed. They told us they would put a check in FedEx today (March 2,2018). Called us to say that they would not be able to issue a check today. They've had my $434 since October, 2017. You decide if you want to do business with these folks - don't say you were not warned!
