We booked a three month stay at an East Austin apartment managed by The Bindel. We are 5 weeks out from arriving in Austin, and received a message on the Air bnb app notifying us that there was a plumbing issue in the apartment and they could not guarantee it would be fixed prior to our move in. Long story short, after days of air bnb messages and very reluctant phone calls on their end (no one wants to speak directly on the phone but prefer to send messages on the app, this is probably because the company is being ran by children by the sounds of things) there was no viable solution for us.
The manager Brent or Brett spoke with me offering a different apartment in a completely different location even though, according to air bnb they had an apartment in East Austin (at a different building) available for the complete duration of our stay.
Basically no one wanted to deal with me as soon as I mentioned I would expect to be compensated for the difference in price for having to find something new at a higher price point with just weeks until we move.
The manager said he was working on a solution and would message me (again did not want to talk on the phone.) He did neither and instead cancelled my stay on the app with the comment "apartment issue" and did not reply to any of my messages and told his receptionist to tell me he's not available every time I called.
The excuses for me not being able move into another East Austin apartment ran by them (that showed as available on the air bnb app for our dates) included "our calendars aren't updated."
They are liers as far as I'm concerned, so we decided to look on VRBO, found a 2 bedroom beautifully furnished executive penthouse in downtown/East Austin for $2k less than what they charged.
Happy ending in our case but completely stressful couple of days dealing with this incompetent company. I would stay away from dealing with them.
This only way to describe the completely unprofessional way this company operates.
Booked an apartment with this company through VRBO, in May for an October stay of 1 month.
Took my money at that time.
3 days before our arrival I asked for check in info.
Told they only provide this info 2 days before check-in.
Then told there was some maintenance issue with the place we have booked, offered another place.
2 minutes said this one not available, refunded our money. Thats it,
We are from Australia
So while in transit I book another place, only to find this is with Bindel as well.
This one is cancelled immediately as well with some story that this place has been booked through a different platform.
Strangely these places are still for rent on at least 2 rental platforms.
So we arrive in Austin and have to try and fine some long term accommodation.
We fortunately found some accommodation but not before we had to spend a couple of days in a motel.
My advice stay well away from this company
I highly recommend The Bindel! I used the service for a short-term rental in Austin, Texas, for 4 months. The support staff was attentive, the unit was beautiful (as pictured), the move in and move out procedure was easy and seamless. It was nice knowing that The Bindel team was there for me if anything went wrong and also held the rent and deposit for 24-hours after my move in. I didn't have to send my rent and deposit directly to the Host or provide it right on move in, which gave me time to make sure the rental was what I was expecting. I would definitely recommend The Bindel to my friends!
