“Happiest plants ever”

Kinni P.
9/15/23

I've purchased hundreds of dollars worth of plants from them. These plants arrive perfectly packed and healthy. When you transplant them, they grow like they overjoyed to join your garden. I had one botched delivery that was NOT their fault. There were 8 plants in that shipment and they sat on a hot shipping platform for 6 days. Only one didn't make it. The others thrived. Aside from their vigorous health, I've been very pleased that every specimen has been exactly what expected, even the French Tarragon. I wasted too much money buying bunk Tarragon before I ordered from GE. I don't want to order from anywhere else anymore. These folks are my botanical heroes. They do not disappoint. The plants are small when they arrive, but the growth rate can only be described as explosively happy. If you want rare herbs and don't live near a nursery, these are your people. They have great sales too. Looking at some of these reviews, I think there were unrealistic expectations. These are still living plants and you do have to actually garden to get what you want from them. I've purchased a lot of plants online and these are by far the easiest, healthiest specimens I've received. Give them a try. They make a regular gardening gal look like a master gardener.

“Watch the warranty policy. Not as good as local growers”

Karen W.

Bought a dozen lavender plants last spring. Planted and thrived first season. Died over the winter. Will not support a 1 year warranty that local growers support. Instead questioned extreme weather, neglect, ignoring our hardiness zone information and care instructions. Typical winter, within hardiness zone recommended, seasoned Gardner. It suggests I am the problem and they hold no responsibility. I'll stick with local growers

The plants appeared well packed and nice upon arrival, but came with thrips! Definitely something I was not expecting, and even worse for herbs you plan on eating. I tried my best to treat, but the bugs spread rapidly and killed all 4 plants. For the price, the size of each herb was small too. I will definitely be ordering elsewhere going forward.

I've placed about 3 orders from The Growers Exchange in the last couple of years and every order has arrived with issues. The last order I placed, all of the genovese basil they sent me was very clearly sick and spotted, and deteriorated within a week. I sent them a picture and they said that it was just a result of the shipping and that they would be fine- which I knew was not true. Likewise for the thai basil I ordered from them that also arrived in terrible condition and died over the course of a week. I'm not stranger to either of these plants, so I decided to just grow my own through cuttings and seeds and I have huge thriving plants now (I mention this to say that it was not user-error on my end). They refunded my thai basil, but not the genovese that was very much also dying. I also ordered a Vietnamese Coriander plant that arrived with a spider mite infestation that took two-three weeks to finally get rid of.

I used to buy a LOT from them.
I bought $72 worth of plants, including a German Chamomille ($7.50).
The plant was very small when received and promptly died.
All that was left was a pot of soil- nothing to photograph.
I emailed them within 14 days.
They REFUSED to send me another or refund the $7.50 without a picture, claiming I violated their "guarantee".

What "guarantee"? Is this the way to treat repeat customers.
Buy herbs at Home Depot- avoid these people.

I got taken! They had a nice picture of the sweetgrass plant they were selling. I wanted 4, until I saw the shipping was going to cost more than the potted starts. I cut my order down to 2, and that brought the shipping down to the same as my potted starts. Now I wish I had backed out when I got such a pricey shipping quote!
4 days later my plants arrived. I must say I was pleased at how fast my order was handled, and arrived, but when I opened my package, I could have cried. I had two pots with very poor specimens. They were nothing like the images that were displayed on the website advertising. I emailed them complaining, and they wrote back, asking me if I had ever heard the phrase "A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words." I wrote back telling them I'd get a picture to them but it would be late that evening. But then I couldn't get their stupid condescending question outta my head. And the rest of the day their condescending, patronizing, BS reply kept running through my head! So I wrote again, telling the yes I had heard the phrase they mentioned, and that I use to use it frequently, but that it used to be that pictures never lie, but nowadays we have Photoshop, so that stuff has changed! And that they know the poor quality of the stock they sent me, and that there's no reason I should bother myself with a bunch of BS while they try to blame shippers, or me for the crap they sent.
Then I threw out the trash they sent, reordered my order with a well known nursery, because I have had to deal with this kind of crap before, and I am really tired of beating my head against a brick wall! People like them will have you mailing back sample while they blame others. They sent me trash, and that's what they are. I would advise to stay away from (thegrowers-exchange.com) what's in their pictures is not what they are selling, and they're prepared to blow the smoke of deceit up you as long and far as you will let them.

Tip for consumers:
Look elsewhere, go to www.prairienursery.com, and check out their plants.
Don't get hooked by thegrowers-exchange's nice pictures. Those pictures aren't when they're selling.

Products used:
None, they sent trash, and they know they did, but wanted to embark on a journey of having me take pictures and return samples etc. I have more to do than waste time playing, "it's someone else's fault, we sent you top quality plants", when they know what they sent was trash!

Awful packaging… My plants arrived, having been tossed around the box and completely out of their planter. The leaves were wilted, and they were way smaller than pictured. These plants were expensive. It's the second day and I am not sure if they're going to make it. I will not be buying from them again, these were supposed to be a gift to a friend.
