I always find this site to be the best for finding the cheapest rail fares in the UK. Remember, 2 singles can sometimes be cheaper than a return ;)
I made thé unfortunate mistake of buying 4 European train tickets from Trainline because their site cropped up first. I had to cancel, no refund although I can cancelled 1 hour later. Trainline tix Montreux to Gstaad were $58 each, Swiss national train 28 Swiss or about $30. Go to the national train websites- DB, SSB SNCF. Trainline is a bunch of Indians ripping you off.

I bought tickets Amsterdam London. The first train was cancelled due to a national strike. I immediately got in touch to tell I couldn't make the journey then, although it's almost impossible to get help. The Trainline pretended it would all be fine, kept me in the dark for half a year, then let me know that they cannot do anything for me and I've lost all my money: 650 euros in total

None, I couldn’t use the tickets, and I got no refund at all
Literally the worst and least honest travel company. Hidden fees everywhere, even if you take insurance. Refundable tickets... refundable tickets for them means 10£ fee PER TICKET when you actually claim your refund. This on top of the extortionate fees they already charge you for.
And then you wonder why they don't have a direct line to speak to customer service... lol biggest scam company ever
This company is an absolute disgrace. I booked a £12.20 trip with them and my plans suddenly changed so asked for a refund within a couple of minutes and they charged me £9 for an administration fee. I very rarely complain about anything but this has made my blood boil. Never again...
I booked a return ticket yesterday from colwall to hereford I had to go to the hospital as I did last Wednesday and Friday. But this time was kept in over night and unable to walk back to the station. Just phoned train line. But said they couldn't refund me …. So deleted the app and told them I won't be using them again …disgusting
Would give 0 stars if possible. DO NOT use this app, they will take your mone, charge an extra fee only to repeatedly provide completely false information refuse any kind of refund have 0 complaint process and just absolve themselves of any responsibility by blaming the rail service provider whilst keeping your money even though it was their app that provided the false information. AVOID AT ALL COST!
I made an online booking for coach travel in the UK and the only thing that happened was payment was processed and no e-tickets or transaction mail manifested. Followed up by phone and was told that this would be because no tickets available from coach operator (why were they offered?). In this event they said a refund would follow by 20/4, this also has not happened. Called coach operator direct and purchased the same tickets deemed unavailable by Trainline.com - not a good look.
It is safer and often cheaper to buy tickets direct from the train companies. Above all, never buy Eurostar tickets through Trainline. Trainline's app does not always work properly. If there are problems on the journey and you have bought a ticket from the train company, the train company will help you, but if you bought the same ticket through Trainline then the train company will not be able to help you and will just tell you that you must speak to Trainline. Trainline's customer services are poor or non-existent depending on the type of ticket.*If you make the mistake of buying a Eurostar ticket from Trainline, Trainline will not speak to you under any circumstances, and will just fob you off with meaningless apologies by email. *Update: I eventually resorted to emailing the CEO of Trainline (which I searched for online) and was consequently contacted by a very helpful member of customer support within Trainline's European team who clarified matters, reassured me that Trainline are working on the technical glitch that arose, that our tickets will work in any event, and that there is even a Trainline telephone line for european/eurostar customers:
" *******088
Calls cost 2p per minute plus your phone company's access charges.
Charges may be included as part of your phone package.
We are open Monday-Friday 09:00 to 13:00 BST."
I haven't been able to find that telephone number by searching online but I have dialled it out of hours and it seems to work. So I have added two stars to my review, but as a result of my experiences described here I will opt for buying direct from train companies in future, for eurostar and european journeys in particular. I may come back and add another star in a month after we have successfully used the tickets we bought from Trainline.
Paid £12.20 for the ticket. Was refunded £4.70. Trainline refund fee £8.50. This is how this horrible complany are making money. This is a scam in my opinion and needs to be investigating as they are clearly abusing the customer rights.
Tip for consumers:
Never use Trainline. Buy directly from the train service provider. Trainline is just a middleman who will take your money.

Shameful behaviour by Trainline. …
I bought 3 return tickets to Newcastle on 30th September. Trainline informed me the trains would be cancelled due to the strike. I duly cancelled my tickets on the app and sent Trainline ALL the tickets by recorded post, as requested, and I have receipt of delivery.
When I questioned why I had not received my refund, Trainline said I had not sent the tickets back. I sent Trainline proof that I had indeed sent them back and they had received them and, lo and behold, I suddenly received part of the refund but not all.
I have chased this up and Trainline now say they didn't receive all the tickets - they can only find some, Luckily, I took a photo before I sent them of my letter and all my tickets as proof. I cancelled all the tickets in the app and I could not have used them anyway because of the strike.
Trainline are lying saying I did not send all the tickets. This is absolutely not true!
It is clear that my envelope with tickets was mislaid by Trainline in the first place as I had no refund until I chased them with proof of my envelope being delivered and now they are still withholding my money - and it is a significant amount.
Shameful behaviour by Trainline! I would avoid using this company at all costs.

None. I bought train tickets which were cancelled due to strike.
I bought some tickets online, but was told that the sale hadn't succeeded. Tried again and was successful. What I didnt know until I read my bank statement, was that Trainline had taken two lots of money from my card. They are very difficult to get hold of and it has taken two weeks to get a refund. The refund is a fraction of what they took from me and I'm £250 out of pocket as a result. Never will I use this service again.
I used this company for a journey from Glasgow to London. The app didn't work on the day and trainline didn't know how to fix it when they were rang so I had to buy new tickets for my journey.
I complained about this after the journey and trainline refused to refund me the tickets after 7 months of discussing with a very unhelpful customer service.

They put on wrong information on their website, which prevented me from downloading the ticket and nothing could be done to have a cop of the ticket in a different way. On top of that, when I called the only contact number I could find to ask for an email address to send them a refund request with attachments, the operator refused to give me their email, with no plausible reason other then to discourage me from doing that! So I had to send an expensive registered email to their main office to be heard. Even then, the person who replied misread my email completely and didn't even bother to open the attachments, which didn't even need an interpretation as they clearly demonstrated that the fault of what happened was theirs. The whole operation cost me a huge waste of time, irritation and a sum of money I will aver see again.

I would avoid using trainline. I recently had an experience where the app glitched on the day and said my ticket was used so I had to purchase another ticket. When I complained about it to trainline they were very dismissive and after 3 months of chasing they have said they can't work out why that happened and won't be refunding my tickets.
This company is a joke. They sell tickets to services that are non existent. To top it off I had to spend 150 extra to get to my destination. Avoid this company at all costs, they are just con artists.
Trying to get a refund on an extra ticket generated accidentally by a design fault on the website. Nightmare. Ten emails in & still no end in sight. I have been asked the same questions over & over again...it's appalling
Couldn't pick up the ticket bought via Trainline app at the station machine, ended up buying another one (and having a stressful time). Contacted Trainline for refund - they are like - yes, sure! And then they refund £10 less as there is. Ta da!. Admin fee. Avoid them at all costs!
Tip for consumers:
do not use them
Train wasn't on the screen so didn't know what platform. Saw it on the other side of the station, only for it to pull away as I press the button for the doors to open. Let's remember this was happening before the train was scheduled to leave the platform. Bastards. Don't deserve a spot in heaven
Tip for consumers:
Don’t bother it’ll be easier and less stressful to walk

My tears and anger
This is an absolute scam. I strongly encourage you not to use them. I bought a ticket to get from Lyon to London, with a layover in Paris. But it turns out that, while in Paris, I needed to buy a metro ticket and travel to a station 30 minutes away! Nowhere did the tickets say this. It just noted that I'd have an hour layover. By the time I realized that my tickets from A to B actually required me, on my own time, traveling from C to D in the middle of getting from A to B, I'd missed the second train. I asked customer service for a refund. They began by lying to me about info included in an email, and then told me that I should have realized that getting from A to B via their system would require an extra trip, on my own dime, from C to D in the middle. Do not use Trainline.
Trainle, process a refund, but they told me than the train company not accept the refund but is a lie, i have the proof that the ticket was cancelled on time
thetrainline.com have repeatedly advertised ( on jobserve.co.uk) the same or very similar roles for more than a year to my knowledge. I have never had any feedback from my application and cannot understand how this position has not been filled in the current economic environment. I reported them to the ASA as it is illegal to advertise jobs that don't exist.
