“CUSTOMER SERVICE #1”

James G.
10/5/20

Lost one of the bridge height screws on the Mustang Modified bridge I purchased for a custom build. Reached out to get a replacement, and Shane Roberts in customer service went above and beyond to dig up a spare. In my opinion Warmoth has an excellent customer service department and I would highly recommend doing business with them. Jim - Valparaiso, IN

“Bad service”

Ordered second neck, first order was borderline late. Don't believe what they say are lead times, unless you want to take the word of a bunch of lazy hippies who can't get to work on time cause Starbucks is busy. If you cancel they will try to charge you 25% even thought they haven't even started on it. Seriously? Take six weeks to make a guitar neck that has about 4 hours labor max. (they don't dress the frets just pound them in) Save yourself some grief and buy direct from Fender. Three day delivery. Not eight weeks maybe if your real nice to them.

They can't deliver as promised. I ordered a guitar on August 9 for my sons 21st birthday on December 7. Almost six months later, no guitar and all they have to say "it's still going to be a while". I was told at the time of ordering it would be twelve weeks to delivery. I was a member of the "unofficial" Warmoth forum. When I respectfully complained about the long wait time and Warmoth's high prices, Aaron C. (the marketing director and the face of the company on YouTube) banned me from the forum for life after he made a nasty, unprofessional reply to my comment. He stated the world has changed due to Covid. Things now cost more and take longer, then said sorry you don't like it, deal with it. Well, their prices were high before Covid and six months+ (who know how long it would have taken to actually receive it) delivery time is ridiculous by any standard when they promise twelve weeks. Their parts are okay, but not that great for the money. Only positive is they canceled the two guitars I had on order and refunded all payments. Needless to say, I'm not impressed.

Tip for consumers:
Don't order from them if you have a deadline.

I ordered a custom body in June. Their web site said it takes 8-10 weeks if you have a finish applied. In July I get an email that my order did not pass QA and I had to choose another top. So now I don't get the top I chose but another that I had to pick from which was not as nice as the first. This also means the clock on the build starts over. So after about 14 weeks into this I send them an email inquiring about the status only to be told it will be another couple of weeks. I call BS and they ship it out in a couple of days. I receive my package only to discover a huge ding in the bottom of the guitar the box was not damaged. Contacted Warmoth and they said they would replace it after I send it back. Now the clock starts over again and I have to choose another top from the scraps that are left. It's now December and It's been 10 weeks so I email them and ask about the status and I'm told the binding took along time so it will be another couple of weeks. Never again!

After spending my time ordering and checking delivery times and date
3 months later I had to ask ship or refund

I got the refund

If they are so incompetent ask yourself why waste the time and effort

So due to adding a middle pickup rout to a tele body was told I would have to get the standard tele body. I wanted the vintage version due to the sharper non radius edge. The standard is too rounded for me. The salesman said no problem just make a note to not radius/sand the edges on the standard when I order and there is no extra charge as it's actually less they have to do. Fast forward about 6 months. Go to place order and I'm told to not radius the edges is going to cost me $65 extra. Get hold of same salesman who admits it shouldn't be an extra charge but now it is. Questioned this further and received complete BS from customer service supervisor trying to explain its more labor to not sand the edges. Shame on you Warmoth. Nothing more than greed. Do not buy from this company.

Would not process my order because the payment was flagged as potentially fraudulent. They demanded I send photos of my bank statement (WTF?). I tried to communicate with them via email and phone to avoid sending personal documentation - to no avail.
And I had to phone them to have them actually return the funds!
Unbelievable.

I ordered a custom neck and body from Warmoth. They were honest on the lead time, but it was slow.

When the parts arrived, I was blown away. These aren't guitar parts, they are pieces of art. Absolutely beautiful workmanship and selection of woods - my parts were finished, and it was brilliant.

Turns out I hit a problem. The finish didn't adhere to my neck properly and flaked off. They apologized, fixed it for free within a few weeks, and sent me a care package. It was awesome.

I'm saving up for my next one.

I have never purchased from Warmoth before. The clear pop-up fields about the difficulty of getting finished material to ship was comforting. Comforting you say? Well I knew about the challenges to building in a pandemic, rather then just being hopeful. Both necks were, well let's be hones... spectacular! I had been working on a P-90 neck, and a Humbucker Bridge. I went through 5 pickguards, with nothing up to par. Someone told me about Warmoth and Pickguards (didn't know they sold them} It's a strange configuration, but both pickguards were PERFECT! I''m so happy, you will be getting all my business from now on.

I have a rock band. We often gather together with my guys and play in the garage. It entertains us a lot and we have fun. However, my guitar was too old and guys told me to replace it with something new. I am such a person who can't throw away things because they cost to me a lot. They keep memories which are connected with me and it's very tough for me to get rid of such things. Nevertheless, I decided to acquire new guitar and in this case this service/store helped me a lot. I found here identical guitar and ordered it. We didn't play for a week until my guitar finally has come to me.

I have had a few very good experiences with Warmoth. Usually the products are shipped in a timely manner and are of a high build quality.

The prices are very high for the product you are receiving. While the product is of high quality, i am unsure if it worth the price you are paying.

I have been playing for 40 years and have owned many basses at various different prices and Warmoth can't be beat! I have owned a few of their necks and built two basses. As far as a Fender style bass goes Warmoth has no competition as far as quality and price go. Warmoth necks are simply the best. Fender has never made a neck that compares. Once adjusted it will not move due to the weather or anything else for that matter unless you put on different tension strings. Warmoth necks have a 1/4 inch fretboard unlike the paper thin fretboard on a Fender. For a third of the price of a boutique bolt on Fender copy costing over $4000 you will have a bass or guitar to your exact specifications. I wouldn't doubt that these boutique builders get their parts from Warmoth. Their customer service is great. I am planning to build a short scale bass and I can't tell you how many times I have called them and ask enumerable questions and they were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I have no idea how anyone can give Warmoth anything under 5 stars. To bad more businesses didn't operate like Warmoth. Sometimes there is a long wait up to 12 weeks, but quality takes time and their necks and bodies are worth the wait!

Warmoth.com one of the best for custom guitars - Warmoth.com is by far one of the coolest website any guitar player would want to see. Its not your typical guitar parts supplier or online guitar store, instead you can browse for hours creating guitars of your liking. You can start by designing a custom guitar or bass neck by choosing from one of 46 classic guitar head shapes or sizes. There is an easy to understand pricing chart that gives you various exotic wood options for the neck itself and the fretboard. You can then proceed to customize your neck completely from nut widths, to back contours, fret sizes, to custom inlays, finishing options to full scalloping. A similar variety of options are available to custom design one of 29 classic and popular guitar bodies; including double neck bodies and 7 string bodies. But probably the best feature of the site is the fact that they upload actual hi-resolution images of the book-matched pieces of wood you can buy. In other words if you click on a certain piece of wood you find to have nice grain and buy it, you will get that actual piece. With 30 species of wood and 118 "buy it now" pieces ranging from Black Korina, Figured Walnut, Burl Maple, Zebrawood, Mango wood, Goncalo Alves, Paduka and Pau Ferro, you are guaranteed to find a beautiful piece of wood for your guitar body. The same option is available for your guitar neck, where there is a small gallery of 16 different wood types with 68 precut actual fretboards for your picky choosing. Warmoth.com also has a very decent showcase gallery where you can see different bodies with different woods and finishes with or without different necks with different options and finishes. Naturally the site also has a limited selection of hardware such as pickups, bridges, and electronics to finish your project. However, Warmoth.com is predominantly for your body and neck wood needs, as there are better hardware supply stores online.

I have ordered 2 necks in the last couple of years in which they had a common problem. I ordered vintage style holes drilled for classic Kluson tuners and they drilled them too close together. On the first neck, I managed to grind the edges of the tuner backs enough to make them fit. The second neck I actually had to widen the holes to make the tuners fit. I called Warmoth not to complain, but just to inform them of a repeating issue that they might want to pay attention to and make a slight adjustment. I spoke with Jake at customer service and he basically blew me off telling me that Warmoth doesn't guarantee that the hole positions would be correct for classic Kluson tuners and that they drill for the Gotoh knock-offs that they sell. He told me that they would not be looking to make any adjustments. This is about the third time over the years that I've spoken with someone there with flippant attitude. Looking elsewhere to purchase custom necks.
