We Screen Play

After submitting my pilot in search of constructive feedback, I got just a confusing mess that seemed to be pieced together by different readers. One of the pieces of feedback even had a suggestion that was already in the script. Also, the strongest point of my script was rated lowest by their system. Make it make sense.

I'm going to stick to Screencraft, as their feedback is much more actionable and insightful.

I had reservations this would be a rushed coverage and half thought out for my over-long script. I received very thoughtful and insightful notes. Well worth the money.

The readers at best skim scripts then write poor coverage that is many times incorrect. They offer inane suggestions for script improvement, if any at all. They use generic cut and paste for coverage then add a tiny detail to make it appear as if they've written something original.

Customer service is extremely poor. This is a shadow company run out of the house of one of the founders. The umbrella is Industrial Arts. The company website lists an address and phone number. The address is verified as one of those PO Box stores (Suite XXX is always a giveaway, it's shorthand for the box number). The number is non-working.

They will not refund your money for hack job coverage. Do not use this service. It's inexpensive but cheap is more like it. Stay away.

When you use We Screenplay you don't know what you are buying.

You think you are buying a qualified reader for your work, but what you are actually getting is a very slim chance of someone who actually knows how to analyze a screenplay objectively.

You don't know their credentials, they may not be the best person to read your script and give you feedback. They actually might hinder your progress then help you.

I did not know this when I first started using them, I was very new in my journey.

However, since I first started using them, I went to film school at UCLA, I studied with Robert McKee, I have a phenomenal writer's group.

But since I had to turnaround a script for a manage in 24 hours and didn't want to subject my writer's group to do a 24 hour read in an epic Fantasy screenplay, I decided to pay double what I would normally pay and let me tell you it was a waste of money.

One of the readers was an intern who films documentaries. They couldn't identify the midpoint, they literally said I did not have one. Which is absurd. This screenplay has been read by writers who have made millions of dollars in Hollywood, you think they would have brought it up. Anyway, the screenplay has a midpoint, but this person went on and on and they were wrong, when I emailed WeScreenplay about it. No response. Nothing. They ignored me.
The second reader wasn't much better they were a non professional writer who has no experience in Sci Fi and Fantasy.
If you are looking for a way to get great feedback, I suggest you join a writer's group. I think the worst thing is paying for bad service and with We Screenplay that is what you are getting.
