OpenGeofiction is an excellent site for mapping online. It's very convenient—you can map using the built-in editor (iD) or connect a third-party software, JOSM, which has many powerful tools. The site is very collaboration-based, especially in special areas called 'blue territories' which is where anyone can edit. Of course, there are some areas which are owned privately; not everyone wants to work with someone all the time. Such territories have some 'qualifications' you'd need to get one to prove that you are responsible and capable. This includes mapping for a certain amount of days, being realistic, being creative, and being collaborative. ALL of the people who have reviewed before me gave 1 or 2 stars because of 'rude' admins who are 'bullies' were people who could not follow simple rules. 'Rhett M.' kept adding motorways to a blue (free-to-edit) state, which goes against the site's collaborative spirit. He had faced countless warnings and temporary blocks before being banned. 'Tim H.' needs to understand that admins can't just hand any territory to them for no reason, instead, you have to work your way up as your mapping improves. 'david g.', going through a trial to see if you deserve a territory is logical because otherwise we would have a bunch of poorly-mapped territories across all of OGF. And finally, 'Kyle W.' should try to not name cities after themselves (is it really such a big deal?) and just stop spamming articles. The site isn't 'stuffy', it just has a logical set of rules which are very easy to follow if you just stop and try to understand. There are many other alternatives out there which are basically unmoderated so you can enjoy mapping a large territory there if you want—but, if you want to be part of our collaborative site, you have to simply follow some rules. This is how many people in OGF flourish, because they follow and don't cause trouble or ignore warnings.

Tip for consumers:
When you first join the site, please pay attention to the rules. You can avoid a lot of trouble (unlike the previous reviewers) if you take 5 minutes to just go over them.
