Splice was, once, THE tool you needed to try. And at the start, everybody I know tried it and was adamant about the bugs. But we all thought Splice would invest in the right places, would update their products while aiming at their target.
But years later, it is now clear that Splice is the worst.
Here are some things that are just not tolerable from such a platform.
- The app is buggy af on macOS. The website is a resource hog and keeps on crashing.
- Their libraries are un-sortable, the interface never changes and is stuck somewhere between 2010 and 2012, design like. The GUI is made by someone that is clearly not using it.
- The customer service is $#*!. Period. There, I said it.
- Pricing are not relevant anymore.
- The very fact that there aren't unprocessed sources - and the fact that it is not sortable - is probably the worst mistake here.
- Their app, although aimed at musicians with home studios, doesn't offer any audio setup, nor any kind of customization.
- Licensing is dodgy at best.
- The very fact that most of your sounds will stop working once you stop your subscription tells you what kind of garbage company this is.
In the end, Splice is not worth the money. Loopmaster for the win.
