After my initial disappointment due to unstable Android support, I can confirm that this DAC can work flawlessly with Android IF YOU FIND THE RIGHT COMBINATION of smartphone and cable.

The USB playback issues made me replace all my Android gadgets (literally). The change was due anyway, so this pulled the trigger. High quality audio playback is my primary concern, and I kept wondering how other buyers were so happy with the xduoo XD- 05. Recent cheap China smartphones come with upgraded Mediatek CPU architecture, USB type C connector, and Android 6 and 7. So I placed some orders, all low budget China products, and all with the latest USB type C.

One phone caused trouble with USB OTG, and I had to downgrade from Android 7 to Android 6. Another one I had to return since USB OTG was advertised but did not work at all. The others worked out-of-the-box with the XD- 05. I now have several smartphones, phablets and tablets working with the XD- 05. Playback with UAPP is absolutely flawless even for hours. Native Android playback does have some glitches every now and then, but negligible.

I also had to try 4 different USB type OTG cable adapters. Two were working, the other two failed (with any USB OTG device).

All in all, quite a lengthy experience, but the result was worth it.
