We recently decided to order some special chopsticks as a gift, and spent almost $50 with this company for 2 pairs of chopsticks. We'd chosen sets that were advertised as replicas of two particular Japanese samurai's swords in history. We excitedly waited until they arrived. Then, we discovered that both pairs were made of plastic... not just plastic, but hollow plastic.

We'd read on the website of the owners' passion for chopsticks, which made us think twice. We decided to test the chopsticks, only to discover we were right... they were far too light to use. We looked on the site for other sets we might want instead, and then decided to call the company for a return request to replace them.

I called and explained to the employee that took my call that nowhere in the item descriptions is it disclosed that the chopsticks are actually made of plastic. The employee asked if they'd been used, and I said yes, we had tested them, hoping to keep them anyway, to see if possible to eat with, but they were too light, and only briefly tested, and that the chopsticks look spotless. I requested to return them, and for a reimbursement of shipping costs.

The employee said if we had searched for "plastic chopsticks" in their website's search bar, the plastic chopsticks would have come up in the search results. I replied that we had actually clicked their tab called, "cool chopsticks," and that there was no reference to "plastic" there, so we obviously by-passed that information... and why would we search for plastic chopsticks if we didn't want them?

The employee put me on hold and then came back and said they could not accept a return because we had used them. I explained that I could have lied, but did not, and that they were only tested, and are spotless looking, and that nowhere is it disclosed in the item description that they are plastic, which is the real issue... for nearly $50.

The employee replied that she did not write the description, and that she spoke to the owner, and it is not their fault. I asked how it could be our fault when their website never mentions them being plastic and the photos are impossible to tell that they are?

She said we could not move forward with the return because we had used them. I said I could have lied but we only tested them and they are in perfect condition. I explained that they were losing our business, and that I would leave a bad review as a result of this, to which the employee said I was entirely within my right to do so. She again said she'd spoken with the owner and there was nothing that could be done for us.

I then asked to speak with the owner, myself. The employee said the owner had just stepped into a meeting. She said she would call next week. I said she was welcome to call that day, after the meeting, but the employee said they were closing soon.

Buyer, beware. My advice is to shop elsewhere.
