Do NOT purchase from Timbernation. It is difficult to think of a vendor who is more irresponsible or more disdainful of their customers.

The unassembled CD rack that I purchased from Timbernation's Etsy shop did not even ship until almost two months after the initially promised date (which was already more than two months after my date of purchase). Timbernation never bothered to volunteer information about this additional, gross delay. Nor did they ever tell me when I could expect to actually receive shipment.

When the rack finally arrived (four months after ordering), it did not even remotely resemble Timbernation's description. According to them:

"This rack comes finished in Satin Lacquer that gives it a beautiful shine showing the natural wood color."

Instead, as the seller later acknowledged in writing:

"there is a cherry stain on Cherry wood."

But anyone with functioning eyes will see from the photograph below that Timbernation's stain transformed the beautiful cherry wood (visible in the unstained notch) into a hideous, artificial-looking orange that gives no hint whatever of the "natural color" of the actual cherry wood onto which the stain was slathered. Incredibly, Timbernation has steadfastly refused to do or say anything to address this glaringly obvious problem. They may be unaware that California (where I live and therefore where the sale was made), regards selling an article on the basis of such gross misrepresentation to be fraud — even if the misrepresentation was unintentional.

And by the way, don't expect your purchase to come with instructions for assembly. Don't even expect a parts list: My rack came with neither. In fact, Timbernation ignored multiple requests for a parts list (made before I realized just how hideously ugly their stain had made the beautiful wood.) And be sure to allocate a solid block of time to even find whatever hardware they may haphazardly send. I couldn't find mine for some substantial amount of time because what they sent was wrapped in a dirty paper towel (I kid you not!) tucked between pieces of wood. That's when I also discovered that they had carelessly sent mismatched screws….

Products used:
I have not yet tried to find another product that will serve my CD storage needs.

For $295/night you can be on proprietor Clare Monnin's construction site. You may view videos of the workpersons' screeching power tools and music blasting, which my wife and I endured here:

Ms. Monnin offered to try to find another accommodation. But we did not make a reservation for a vacation to move around and to someplace that we had no idea about. This offer amounted to "it's my way or the highway."

You may not find workers crawling around when you arrive. But the lack of honesty that Ms. Monnin displayed by not disclosing her ongoing construction should make you very, very wary. When we expressed our discomfort upon finding workmen on our arrival, she demurred, "but they'll only be painting." That was yet another misrepresentation: She neglected to mention the deafening noise from the power machinery that started at 9 am the following morning.

Our stay here was our first vacation in three years. We booked to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Clare Monnin's various deceptions turned what should have been a joyous occasion into a nightmare.

Don't let the same thing happen to you.

P.S. The website promotes yet another deception: It gives the impression that one can walk across the property directly down to the deck and beach. But you can't. The photographs are carefully framed so that you cannot see that there is a two-line, paved road, which you must cross. And of course, no verbiage on the website alerts you to this fact.

Executive summary: I ordered a pricey item from this vendor. It took 5 months to arrive. It was damaged and he clearly sent it to me in that damaged condition. The vendor refuses to take any responsibility for the damaged goods that he sent out. And it turns out that he engages in other, dishonest business practices.

The details:

I ordered an extremely pricey and what should have been a very attractive wood instrument stand from this vendor. This is what the stand should look like (except mine was African blackwood): https://woodwinddesign.nl/product/flute-stand-2/.

I placed the order on December 29,2019. It did not arrive until May 27,2020. The website said nothing to indicate that the item was not in stock and that it would not be available until mid-March. Nor did it say anything about using some shipping method that would take 2 1/2 months. In that timeframe, I ordered items from other European vendors that showed up on my doorstep inside of 2 weeks.

When the stand finally did arrive, it was damaged. The wood was gouged.

I contacted the vendor multiple times about receiving a damaged article. I supplied photographs that shows the gouge in the finished wood (see photos). I reported to him that I could easily feel the gouge by running my finger across it. And I reported how obvious the damage is to me and to everyone else who has seen the stand. Despite all this evidence, the vendor intransigently insisted that nothing is wrong with it!

This vendor has showed himself wholly unwilling or incapable of admitting that he might have sent me a damaged article. He denies seeing anything wrong in the photographs that I've sent him. He acts as though I'm lying in reporting that I can feel the gouge. That is an extraordinary and extraordinarily offensive way to treat customers.

Of course, I am not the only one who is struck by the intrusive gouge. Everyone to whom I've showed it can't believe that this vendor actually sent this stand out.

This is not the only evidence of this vendor's dishonesty. If you go to his website (see link above), you may find it difficult to find any unfavorable reviews. That is because he blocks or takes them down, as he did mine.

Beware.

I responded to Mr. Maier several times, in the most polite way only.

1 Long delivery time: is stated on the webshop pages, as well as on the email with the invoice: 1-4 months varying, depending on the product. Especially the wooden products (and some rare products, such as carbon stands for saxello, contrabass flute, contrabass trombone) are handmade to order only. The long waiting period is the result of the popularity of my super light and compact carbon instrument stands, and the fact that I have a one person business. More clients request updates on shipment, but are happy to wait and looking forward to use our products after I answered. After shipment of this particilar stand, well within the 4 months period, it took USPS as well as US customs during the Covid-19 troubles two and a half month to deliver it. Normal PostNL /USPS shipment would be 10-14 days. The delay came as a complete surprise to me and some 20 of my US customers. Only Mr Maier does not accept that this is not my mistake. I do not use this shipment method at the moment, at least as long as Covid-19 in influencing a lot of processes world wide.

2 The picture presented shows “something” but I cannot see exactly what. Never ever did I suggest the client was lying, never did I suggest nothing was wrong, never did I reply unpolite, despite his “direct communication style”. Client shows it to everybody, except to me. He demands replacement or refund without giving me the possibility to inspect the product, before making refund or replacement. I don’t expect a lot of traders would be happy to do otherwise.

3. I have no issue whatsoever dealing with feedback on my products, that’s how I get new ideas for products, or insentives to improve existing products. In fact, I invite my clients to write me about possible improvements that could be made. Never did I state that I will not replace or refund, the only thing I ask, is having the product in my hands and assessing what could very well be a grave mistake from me. I do have returning goods from clients that are not happy with their purchase. They send the product back to me and I refund, simple as that. WoodWindDesign has had one return in 2018, zero in 2019 and 2 until now in 2020.

4. I do have a lot of positive reviews, I have not been able to work on the backend of my website the past days, but I will clear the way for his review to be published, as this one negative review probably adds to the credibility of the others. I have never blocked any review.

5. The offer of inspecting the product still stands, but I need it in my workshop.

This outfit is pathetic.

One one order it failed to include my message with the gift sent directly to the party.

On a second order, not one, not two, not three, but four attempts to resolve a problem placing an order were futile. Although I patiently explained the problem and how I wanted to resolve it, I felt as though I was communicating with an uncomprehending hamster staring blankly back at me. In fact, the difficulty of training hamsters to converse might explain why they don't offer telephone support.

You can hope that your order goes smoothly. But if you want better than 50-50 odds, I'd suggest that you look elsewhere.
