Prices have soared at Harris teeter, well above the 9.4 peak inflation rate, and are still rising. Some products have nearly doubled in price. I have scaled back shopping there and joined Costco. Some comparisons: Organic Chicken Breasts 13.99 per pound at HT, at Costco 5.95 per pound. Pork Tenderloin: 13.99 per pound at HT, at Costco 2.99 per pound. Olive oil for HT brand (which is likely not pure olive oil) is now 8.59 for 17 Oz bottleā¦ multiply times 4 for 68 ounces = 34.36, at Costco it's Kirkland brand 68 oz $21. Deer Park Water at HT 24 pack nearly $8, at Costco for 40 pack 6.50. I could go on and on and on. They are certainly price gouging. Costco is bulk purchasing so it does require freezing of meat and such but that's ok, I can do that no charge. For non perishable items it's fine, I'll eventually use the product. My savings since I've taken this route have been over $100 a month and I live alone. So imagine what the savings will be for a family. It's more inconvenient as I have to travel about 20 minutes to travel so I just have to plan a little better to minimize trips, and for things I want but can't get at Costco, I now use Food Lion as they are considerably cheaper than Harris Teeter and while I don't really care that much for Food Lion stores, I'll tough it out since Harris Teeter is simply out of control with their greed.
