PSA: Don't cruise with Carnival Cruise Line. They're the worst. We were supposed to leave for a two week Alaskan cruise, and 3 DAYS BEFORE EMBARKATION Carnival cancelled our booking because my 2 year old son isn't vaccinated for COVID 19. My two year old son... Who cannot be vaccinated because COVID vaccines aren't approved for two year olds. Ummm... discrimination?! Carnival Cruise has known for a YEAR that we had booked AND paid for this cruise, and Carnival knew we had a toddler. This new "policy" that supposedly requires all guests to be vaccinated regardless of age, is extremely vague on their website. To clarify, I called and talked to two different cruise agents, and both of them reassured me that since my son is too young to qualify for the vaccine, he is exempt from the policy and can join us on the cruise. He just would require an additional COVID test on the day of embarkation. We were able to print off our luggage tags and boarding passes without a problem, my sister however, could not. The website said her booking was cancelled. I checked again and suddenly my booking was cancelled as well. We called to find out what on earth was going on only to find out that carnival cancelled our staterooms, and gave them to someone else that morning. Carnival didn't reach out and notify us at all... No email, no phone call, nothing. Just cancelled our staterooms and assigned them to someone else. We literally would have flown to California to embark on our "family friendly Carnival Cruise," gotten COVID tested, showed up at the port with all our family and extended family and two weeks worth of luggage only to be turned away because we have a two year old and one year old in our party. After 6 hours of arguing trying to get at least a refund, Carnival did offer to put us on a different cruise... Only it was 7 days instead of 12... And we would have inside rooms instead of balcony suites... And they would be all over the ship instead of next to one another, and they would not compensate for additional airfare to leave from Seattle instead of San Francisco. Oh, and they wouldn't give us back the difference in price, we would just get to lose that money as well. So yeah... seems fair, right? Epic customer service Carnival... Truly. So yeah... Carnival is the actual worst and we will never cruise with them again.
