Zoom, Invitae Pinterest, all losers since 2020. If I would have held them the recommended 5 years I would have been worse off. When Tom and Dave Gardner were running Motley Fool the recommendations were far better. I lost 10s of $1000s in these terrible stocks. You are better off piggy backing Warren Buffets recommendations, I made my money back on his picks.

There isn't a financial publisher, The Motley Fool included, that can promise that a recommended stock will not encounter market fluctuations. Investments are inherently a risk, and the market will fluctuate. When we recommend a stock in any subscription or strategy, we are doing so with the intention of holding that stock for 5 years, minimum. As long-term investors, we recognize that stock prices will fluctuate. That being said, we won’t always recommend a sell just because the stock price drops. We prefer to hold stocks in companies that we are confident in for the long term.

Tom Gardner is co-chairman and CEO of The Motley Fool, and still manages many of our services. Although David Gardner is no longer managing services, he still hosts a weekly podcast - Rule Breaker Investing - and is actively involved in the Motley Fool Foundation.
