I damaged my sony lens and sent it to precision camera for repair. Two day's after receiving the lens for repair which was a Thursday. They contacted me via email stating that the tech had looked at the lens the cost of repair was going to be $405.00 and asked if i wanted to go ahead with the repair and i said yes. Provide them my credit card number to perform the repairs. The very next day i received a call from someone stating they were with sony support. He stated he had been in contact with precision camera and they stated to him that the price for the repair was going to significantly much higher than they had stated to me. He stated because of this he was contacting me to offer me a new lens with a one year warranty to replace this lens. He told me that if i would like to take this offer it would be an additional $396.00. I stated to him why did precision camera lie to me about the repair cost the day before and not contact me about this issue. Then i told him I would not take the offer as i could get this lens at a cheaper price than he was offering. Asked him why would I pay a higher price that i could buy it for somewhere else and why sure precision camera get paid for lying to the consumer and some of the absolute worst customer service. After this situation I have looked up the reviews on precision camera and found their customer service is absolutely horrible. And I stated to the Sony support technician that because of this situation and that Sony chooses to use this cheap second rate non-professional service company for their products that I would be transitioning from Sony products to Fujifilm products. All in all when you contact the company to provide service and they can't be straight up with you and delegate the responsibilities to another company is absolutely absurd when it comes to customer service.
