I joined because the price was cheap ( actually more expensive for what you get) and it was sold and iniated at and by Walmart. It seemed to be okay until i left the state of Florida and found out my roaming phone stopped working. No more phone usuage only wifi, when in an area that had free wiFi. They were selling IPhones and others so i opted to buy, and bought from them an IPone 7+. Before buying I asked a sales rep if the phone would work okay in Colombia, South America because it was to be a gift for my friend there. He replied it would work perfect there same as here. I bought the phone outright; paid for it and did not want or need any package plans. They sell phones for those people that buy on montly payment plans. He said again; no problem I could send the phone there and it would work okay.
So I hand carried the phone to Colombia gave it to my friend and we went to store to buy a Colombian Sim from CLARO and installed it. (thats what I always do when going to different countries) Well needless to say the phone didn't work. Swiched back to the StarightTalk sim and of couse it didnt work because we were not in Florida.
Tried a different sim, thinking maybe it was bad. Nope still cant activate the phone.
So next couse of action was to call lond distance to florida and talk to the Straighttalk company department for trouble shooting. Some woman answered and simply stated that the phone was locked and thats why it didnt work. So I said to her, i was specifily told it would work when I went to colombia with it. And I paid cash for the phone without a service package or payment plan. Whats with it being locked so I
Cant use it. After hearing her muffeled laughter, she says to me, ooh,,, you must not have read the small print at the bottom of puchase agreement ( which I never received because it was all done on line) There it states if you dont buy a service plan your phone WILL BE LOCKED FOR ONE YEAR. So here i am now with a brand new IPHONE 7 + as a paperweight.
In addition to that problem; with my ipnone 7+ i was in China, and my phone stopped being usuable. The problem was my monthly payment was not made on time and they just cancelled my account withount any notice that the payment was due. That was an error on my part because i was out of country for three weeks and didnt realize the payment would come due. So because i didnt have a phone number any more I couldnt receive the messages from the airlines. That a flight (tnext one) had been canceled, My translator couldn't work, and I can't speak chinese, and no one there speaks a word of english, I was in a very bad situation plus I could only be in China for a few hours on temporary transit only Visa. It required missing of the next 5 flights. That I couldnt cancel because i didnt have a working phone. I finally found in 6 pages of airline documents a phone numer in blue color. I took that phone numer to the ticketing people and made jesters to them to call that number. Luckily that number was to an asian office of United Airlines in Bejing. So two ladies at Chinese ticketing called and talked with the United office and after two hours I was given travel document information that I could use with routing information to get me back to florida. Each leg of the 5 flights I had to pick up luggage, clear security, go to ticket counter, obtain next ticket, re-check in luggage, clear security, and run like hell to make next connecting flight. All because of a cancelation of my phone numer.
When I arrived back home I contacted straighttalk and asked them to re-instate my acount and they refused saying: JUST GO AND BUY ANOTHER SIM but you' ll still be able to use the samre Phone number. Yesterday I puchased a service without a plan and with auto pay from Verizon. I get all USA, Canada, and Mexico included at no extra charges, and its only $5 more per month. Straight talk for Florida only, verus all USA plus mexico and Canda for $5 more. And Verizon is a reputable company,
