I was interested in Zamzar and was told it was free, safe and legal. The song I tried to move from wav to mp4 was too big. Therefore, there was a fee. I don't know if I missed this information on their site, but I was under the impression this would be a free service.

Hi Rae, we do offer a genuinely free service for files up to 50MB in size (and for two conversions per 24 hours). We try to make this file size limit clear at the point you upload your file, but sorry if you missed that. For files larger than 50MB, you would need a paid account. We hope that makes sense.
