Hello,
First of all i never did a review before for anything no matter how bad it is i tried always to look to the bright side and look if i can get any accommodations however in this case with this airline it was more of unreasonable situation and their was nothing you can do about it because they offer you nothing in return for their weird policy!
So on the 6 of October i had my vacation booked already nearly 2 month earlier to the US from the Netherlands and like everyone was so excited about it until i reached the Airport and i did what we all do ( check-in) i paid for extra luggage because Easyjet is low-cost company so i paid for my extra luggage separately online.
I had my booking from Amsterdam to LGW and another flight from London to Seattle Tacoma with Norwegian Air.
So i went to the counter handed over my Egyptian passport and the guy asked me where's your UK visa? So i said i dont need UK visa for transiting since the UK allows you to transit without visa if you're ( transiting by Air - and leaving within the same day - and heading to the US or Canada or Australia...) so i told him i have my US valid till next year and i have the right to go, so he went to his supervisor and came back telling me, am sorry but you're not allowed to board! And we put your name off this flight! So i was in a shock since i transited before in the UK with other Airlines without any issues. Yet hearing that got me in a shock specially am just starting my vacation.
So i went to his supervisor and told her that the law says so and you can check it online its available on the Official website Gov.uk and look for yourself!. What was told was more shocking to me, she said " i know you have the rights to transit and what you said is true, however our company policy demands UK visa for transiting in the UK" i stood still silent for couple of minutes trying to figure out if this is a joke or serious? So i told her how is that possible as the law allows me to enter and i went to the " Dutch customs officer " and asked him about my condition and if am legal to enter the UK transiting with my Dutch permanent residence and US visa? And he told me after checking the book he had that I AM allowed to enter the UK and they have no issue for me boarding my flight but they cannot force the Airline to board me on their flight and i have to find a solution with them.
And so i went back and told the supervisor i dont understand how is that possible the law in Holland and England gives me the rights and you say your company policy says otherwise, if i miss this flight i will miss my following flight to the US which am suppose to catch 2 hours after landing in London!, so she said am sorry but we can't help you and you can call our customer service number and find out solution with them, so i did called them and tried to reach something but they said our company policy is like that and we're sorry but we CANT also refund you or do anything about it so i asked if i could get another flight with a different route maybe they said that you can try to do on your own and hang up on me!
I was forced to seek another booking so i booked online with American Airlines to Seattle cause i had my hotel already booked and paid nearly 600 Euros! And i got nothing in return from Easyjet.
Honestly i have never ever witness something like that in my life i have been with so many airlines before and this is my first experience with easyjet and last.
DO NOT TRUST this company by all means they're not trust worthy and all they care about is taking your money and promise you services you wont get.
Lots of regards,
Shady Basiouny
