I have been a Geico customer for over 10 years. 2 years ago for some reason, they started sending me paper bills. I told them to stop it I don't want them. The option in my account for Paperless billing has always been on.
They told me that certain things don't go paperless. But they had been for YEARS before! I let it go. It happened on the next 3 billing periods, I contacted them and was given the same BS each time.
I emailed them last night, got this response from Sara:
"There are certain documents that will be sent through the mail even when you are on a paperless option. This is the case with the renewal bill and the renewal paperwork, including the insurance cards."
Oh but it WAS explained to me. But noone can explain to me why this policy changed two years ago, and why they still have the option for Paperless Billing in accounts.
I called just now and spoke to a Supervisor named Darryl.
He told me there was no way to logistically do what I asked. He could not explain to me why it wasn't a problem til 2 years ago. He tried to get me to change my policy billing to monthly and told me that if I did that I wouldn't get paper bills.
I said, "REALLY? Why would I want to pay the extra fee for monthly billing ($5 a month), just to get you to stop sending paper billa? Does it make ANY sense to you, what you just said to me?" He agree it didn't make sense but that that was the only way to do it.
I threatened to cancel, he did not offer at all to track this issue down. All companies do paperless now! Except, it seems, GEICO insurance.
If they truly went to sending paper bills 2 years ago, how many tons of paper do you think they have needlessly used? NO explanation at all for this action.
I will further quote THEIR OWN WEBSITE:
https://www.geico.com/auto-insurance/paperless-options/
This specifically tells people how wonderfully glorious their paperless billing option is! WTF GEICO?
There is a SYSTEM ERROR causing this in my opionion, and everyone I've talked to is too inept or too far out of touch with anyone that can resolve this issue and are just feeding me nonsense.
If indeed it is intentional, then SHAME ON GEICO for being jerks and killing the planet and wasting TONS and TONS of paper when they are trying to look all goody-two-shoes and claim this "awesome" paperless billing policy on their site!
