For my birthday this year, I asked my mom if she'd pay for me to have my German paperback copy of the Grimm fairy tales sent in to be rebound as a hardcover. I found Long's-Roullet and decided to go with them for this project, and I am extremely happy with the results. I'm a translator/linguist by trade, and German is my favorite language. This book is very special to me, and they took great care of it for me and their genuine leather binding is absolutely gorgeous.

Apart from paperback to hardcover conversions, Long's-Roullet also does bibles, theses/dissertations, creative writings/genealogies, and a few other things. If you need a bookbinder, I highly recommend this company. They'll take good care of your property and their work is stunning.

One thing to note: If you do a mail-in order (which I did, as Long's-Roullet is in Virginia and I am in Kansas lol), they don't confirm receipt unless you specifically ask them to (which is also stated on their website).

I saw pretty much from the start that filing my state taxes would be $14.99 and I happily paid the extra $6.99 for the deluxe/audit assist option. Not only was this the first time in several years that I've had to file taxes, but it was the first time I had to file as a self employed translator. I expected the whole process to be a nightmare, and frankly, it was until I found this site. I was reading up on what forms I needed to file as a freelancer and was getting frustrated. I saw an ad for FreeTaxUSA and thought I'd just take a look. Glad I did. It was easy to report my income and business expenses, and a huge weight off my shoulders finding a tax filing site that doesn't charge a ton and knowing that doing my taxes next year will be a relatively simple task. I was dreading filing my taxes, but FreeTaxUSA was a great find and a huge help. I really can't stress enough what a comfort it is to have this done and know that someone can help me if any issues do arise.

I follow a low carb diet, which involves a lot of meat. A few weeks ago, my mom called me up and told me about ButcherBox. She told me to check it out and if I was interested she'd pay for it (because she's a great lady like that). I decided to give it a try, and oh man, this place does not disappoint. It's absolutely amazing that the animals are treated well for one, and the meat is outstanding. I've already picked my selection for my next box, and added one of their free range turkeys for Thanksgiving as well as an add-on pack of apple gouda sausage. If you're a big meat eater, I highly recommend Butcher Box. Shipping was prompt (arrived within a week or so of billing, still frozen solid) and price is reasonable, especially for this level of quality. I'm sincerely looking forward to trying the other cuts I got and to receiving my next box, not to mention a lovely free range turkey delivered for Thanksgiving!
