After the U.S. Energy Information Administration announced an inventory reduction of 6.3 million barrels for the week ending September 1, crude oil prices increased somewhat today.

This contrasts with the previous week's dramatic drop in inventory of 10.6 million barrels, which reduced it to its lowest level in eight months.
The EIA predicted a decrease in petrol inventory and an increase in middle distillates.

The EIA recorded a 2.7 million barrel inventory draw in petrol for the final week of August, up from the prior week's small 200,000 barrel stock draw.

The largest private employer in the country, Walmart, is changing its pay scale so that some new retail employees, like those who pick up online orders, will start at a lower hourly pay rate than they would have a few months ago.

According to spokesperson Anne Hatfield, the adjustment, which went into effect in July and was originally announced by The Wall Street Journal on Thursday, would promote consistency in starting hourly pay across individual stores, which will enhance staffing and customer service.
