Question:

Hello - anyone had any "good" experiences from green motion? they seem to be a lot cheaper than everyone else.

Answer:

Avoid Green Motion. They advertise prices that are considerably lower than competitors, but if you check consumer review websites, you will see that Green Motion too often (a) attempts to force consumers to buy comprehensive insurance by stating that they will not release your pre-paid car (my experience), and (b) charges very high fees for supposed damage/scratches.

Question:

When does the $500 deposit come off my pending list on my credit card? it's been over 2 weeks!!

Answer:

Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

Question:

We returned the car in good order, but i see the 2900 reserve on my card is still reserved.?

Answer:

Hi E. B. Thank you for your question. I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges. Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you. Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you. If this amount is still not available in your account after 30 days from the last day of your rental, please contact us at escalation@cs.greenmotion.com. Kind regards, Green Motion International Customer Services.

Question:

Can we start a petition so that a formal government entity investigates this company? how can they still be authorised to abuse customers so openly!

Answer:

I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
