The best way I can explain it is to include my e-mail to them: "To Customer Service: I recently received my order of the "organic" Cotton Adjustable Bra in black. Since the bra was advertised as organic, I did not anticipate any problems with materials, and, indeed, the item just had a new smell when unpacked. Therefore, I felt free in removing the tag and hand washing (with an eco product) the bra. Once wet, and much to my horror, the bra smelled very strongly of petroleum dye. I washed twice more, and the odor was not attenuated. My husband, who does not have a strong sense of smell said, "that's awful!". I have purchased a number of black clothing items from both Coyuchi and Fair Indigo, and have never encountered the problem as they use safe dyes. How yoy can still call something organic and then use petroleum-based dye is beyond me. As a woman with multiple chemical sensitivities, I can never wear the bra against my skin, and believe, as bad as it is, the odor will never go away. Since I am aware that your policy is that you do not accept items that are washed or with tags removed, I know that the return avenue is closed to me. Therefore, since I do not feel that I would be able to trust your clothing in the future, please take me off your lists, and discontinue all catalogs and e-mails. I have learned a $68.95 lesson." NOTE: That e-mail was sent to them a week ago, and I have not heard from them. They are obviously not interested in salvaging our relationship. Hope this helps someone to avoid the problem I encountered.
