It is not possible to buy a single colour cartridge separately in stores, and so I tried to order directly from Epson Canada online. At the beginning of the Checkout process it says that shipping is FREE, but later during the process the basic shipping charge is given as $4.95 (NOT free). This is more than 33% of the cartridge price.

When I tried to phone Epson Canada, the automated message said the phone hours are reduced and it is best to email, but did not give the email address, and I could not find an email address online. I am not pleased.

Newest and final review on epson company (www.epson.ca). March 22 2023, I would change my star rating down to zero (0) if I could.
Upon being given a run around by 5 different "support techs" this epson story now comes to a closing.
They do NOT want to do anything for me and would not refund me the money, they just kept transferring me to different support people and giving me different Incident numbers for when I call them back. On March 21 2023 called up and got a different support person and after giving them my phone number she said she would call back in 5 minutes, she never called back. 24 hours later I called epson up again and this time I get someone different. Now he wants to give me another incident number. I'm tired of the run around I'm getting by these incompetent people after taking the time of taking pictures and sending them everything they asked for. So finally I asked if I would get a refund they said NO, my warning to you people out there is DON'T buy anything epson they do not stand behind their products and are a BIG SCAM company to take your money. And now I just found out that there is a class action law suite against epson over "Ink cartridge not recognized" investigation. I can not put websites here but do a Google search for "epson class-action law suite". Epson company to me is a scam, don't let them do this to you. Buy other brands.

Update on 4 black epson ink cartridges. After a week of emailing back and forth and sending them pictures of the epson bill, the epson packing slip, the pictures from the top of how the ink was installed, the picture of the warning screen on the epson printer R380. Pictures of the four epson ink cartridge boxes and the serial numbers under the bar code on the bottom of the boxes and fulfilling all their requests I'm no closer to getting this thing solved. After asking me to jump through hoops and sending them everything they asked for, they asked for my full name and address that was going to be put on a courier package and send me one black ink cartridge. This is a great help they were going to send me 1 (one) cartridge after I had purchased 4 cartridges, hmmm, good deal for them, seems no one listens or reads the emails I sent them. I told them I want 4 cartridges as they are all no good (different chip then the old cartridges) even sent pictures to show the 2 open and still 2 sealed cartridge boxes. Now they didn't send me anything and they would like me to call a phone number long distance on my account to talk to a support rep. Even though they have my full name and phone number on hand with my address.
They could easily phone me but they would like you to be stuck with the long distance charges, more money wasted on your end as they know people would not do it and in the long run you spend more money then you get back out.
This is one of the most useless companies I have ever dealt with and I will no longer be using any of their epson products.

Printer doesn't recognize black ink cartridge (T078120)

I had ordered 4 black ink cartridges #78 (T*******) as there were no stores that carry that cartridge. After inserting in the first black cartridge the screen on the printer (Epson R380 photo printer) said it does not recognize the black cartridge inserted. All the other colors were fine 1/3 to 1/2 full. So I removed and re-installed the black cartridge and the same screen came up. Took cartridge out to clean contacts with alcohol and swab on both printer and cartridge then replaced cartridge and the same screen came up does not recognize the black cartridge. After half an hour of trying different things, I decided to unplug the printer and reset the printer. After plugging back in the warning was off the screen, but now the screen tells me that it's low on Magenta so I replace the Magenta cartridge, black cartridge read full. Started the printer back up and now it's telling me to change the Light Magenta, so I replaced the Light Magenta, black is still full. Started the printer back up and now it tells me it's low on Cyan, so I replaced the Cyan cartridge, black is still full. Stared up the printer now it's low on Light Cyan. Replaced the Light Cyan, black is still full. Started up printer now yellow is low, so replaced yellow cartridge and black reads half empty and I should replace the black cartridge again. During this I could not print anything. So I replaced the black cartridge with a fresh new one and the whole thing started all over again, it did not recognize the black cartridge, so I unplugged the printer to reset the black cartridge and all the other cartridges I replaced read only 1/3rd to 1/2 full (they should all read FULL) and now the black cartridge read full.
I have never had this happen before with changing a black cartridge or any of the other cartridges.
I have spent about $200 in ink cartridges and every time I install a black cartridge bought from epson.ca I have problems. If you own an epson get rid of it and buy something else as their own products don't work (incompatible) with their own products they make. It may be the chip they use as the chip has changed and there is a notice on the ink boxes they come in now. It comes with a notice "Low Ink Reminder" communication in your printer status monitor has changed. Junk I will never trust epson again, don't buy!
