My mother has dementia and has fallen into the trap of being on the "sucker list" of thousands of charities, dozens of Native American charities in particular. She has been giving ever-increasing amounts of money to an ever-growing list of these charities. Starting in May of 2021, we have been contacting these charities and asking them to cease and desist from sending my mother these mailing begging for more and more money. Most of the charities have ceased these mailings, but a few are absolutely relentless.

Nativepartnership.org operates under at least two front organizations: Northern Plains Reservation Aid and Southwest Reservation Aid. They were among the most aggressive and egregious of the charities pursuing my mother for larger and larger donations. I sent both of these fronts a letter and an email in May, 2021, explaining the situation and asking them to stop the mailings. Most of the more responsible Native American charities responded positively, and agreed to stop the mailings. At least two even offered to refund the most recent donations. Not these people - they completely ignored both my letter and my email, and they continued to send regular begging mailings, usually asking for ever-larger amounts between $1000 and $5000, as well as asking her to put them in her will.

As a son with a POA, looking out for my mother's welfare, I intercept most of the mailings these people send to my mother. All of it gets mailed back to whichever front sent it, telling them yet again to stop the mailings. All of gets ignored, and the mailings still continue unabated a year later.

I have emailed their fronts, Northern Plains Reservation Aid and Southwest Reservation Aid, repeatedly over the last year. No response, and the begging mailings continue to this day. We have repeatedly called them. They hide behind a phone maze system, and it is impossible to reach a person. Their phone maze is set up with a box for requesting removal from their mailings. We have left them numerous requests to stop the mailings, and they continue to ignore everything and they keep sending my mother sob story mailings requesting large donations.

Tip for consumers:
Once they get your contact information, they will cling to it forever.

PWNA is a national 501c3 nonprofit with BBB accreditation. One of the largest Native-led and Native-serving charities, we have been serving Indian Country for more than 30 years. Our work is supported by individual donors who are concerned about quality of life for Native Americans. Our bonafide programs such as Northern Plains Reservation Aid and Southwest Reservation Aid are officially registered as DBAs or programs of PWNA; we have eight in total – all are listed on our BBB report and linked to from our website at NativePartnership.org.

Simply returning mail or emailing the programs will not notify the Database Department that you want to stop future mailings. We include an 800 number in our privacy policy just for this purpose. We also have an effective process for processing requests to stop mailings, but to assist you, we need more information (e.g., your mother’s name and address so we can find her in the database).

We have assigned Jasey to help you reach a speedy resolution to this concern. Jasey is on standby at 214 217-2600 x 109 to assist with your request; just say you are following up on your sitejabber review and request to stop emails to your mother.
