No one answers calls, email or the rentacover.con's chat. Very frustrating. We don't recommend them at all. Don't fall in the trap. We should have done a better due diligence.

I bought insurance online from RentalCover for the car I rented from Routes to have a vacation in Vancouver. When I wanted to pick the car, Routes told me that they don't accept RentalCover. There was a long list of rental car companies that do not accept RentalCover and I believe RentalCover knows that, but the online purchase proceed. It is a fraud. (25VT-J30A-INS)

Tip for consumers:

If I could give "0" star it would not even match my experience. I got insurance via 3rd party provider but had to clarify few questions as while renting faced issues. WASTED 2 days on their online chat, 2 out of 7 times somebody connected and said "sorry, I am not a right agent to support". Never replied my emails. No idea how they make business. Never again

Everything seems perfect till you actually claim an expense. They are not trying to help you but they are trying to disprove you. When theres slight change in payment methods. They didnt accept my claim. Not only they didnt accepted but they ignored my mails. I have been trying to reach them. However it was not possible. Trusting them is a mistake. Instead of this service paying a little extra for other websites is secure. You at least know that they will take responsibility and pay your expenses. Even communication is very challenging. Because they dont answer you once you paid the money to them.

We bought a rentalcover insurance for 92 USD from January 14 till 21,2024 for the car we rented through priceline. We picked up the car in Liberia, Costa Rica.
Rentalcover had mailed us a few days before warning us that Payless would try to upsell us. So when we go to the counter and the rep started to go down that route, we came prepared. Feeling backed by rentalcover we refused to accept their much higher rates; the response from payless was clear: if you dont take our insurance we can drive you back to the airport and you will not get a car from us. We, Payless do not accept rentalcover in Costa Rica. To me it sounds like either rentalcover is a scam or Payless is. Both being honest is not possible. We complained to rentalcover, they gave us our money back and we got stuck with the much higher rate from Payless. It feels that all 3 companies involved are not delivering great customer service: rentalcover as they dont stand by their product, priceline as they keep selling these insurances on their site and dont do anything beside putting their hands in the air and payless for not making it clear in advance nobody can rent a car in Costa Rica unless you buy their insurances. This was an extraordinary frustrating and disappointing experience!

I submitted a claim to RentalCover.com online on Nov.12 as there was an accident with the car we rented from Fox on Oct.27 2022.
I have provided all information and documents to RentalCover.com. The response I received from their senior director, Seth Simon is below:

So what happens next?

Our Claims team will contact the rental company.
We will assess your claim and request andy clarification or further documents.
Most claims are paid directly to the rental company, however, if you have paid them and the claim is approved, we will reimburse you.
For reimbursable claims, you will receive a payment link via email. Payment is completed quickly by electronic transfer.

The damages amount should be paid directly to Fox by your company according to the information I got from Seth Simon.

I have been involved in a multi vehicle accident, I'm not at fault in any way for this accident. I have collected and provided all the third party's information to you, but your claim team had not taken any action for an investigation until I sent an email to request on Nov.28.

The investigation is being taken between RentalCover.com and State Farm now, but I received an email from your claim team this morning, I was told that they would be closing my file and there is no further action available.

I feel very disappointed with what your claim team have done on this claim. I will take further action to report this to their head office.

Be careful as this company didn't reimburse me for a minor tear in the car, while the rental car charged me an outrageous charge for it. The Local rental company was "easy rent" in Bulgaria.

Do not use this service, it's a fraud! They only cover minor damages up to a few hundred bucks. We had an accident and they refuse to cover the full amount (5500 euro). After long time of chasing them, they replied to me that usually there is a limited insurance offered by the rental company, and since i didnt have it, they won't cover more then 2200 euro of damage. What they actually say is that their insurance covers only minor damages, but in case of an accident, it wont help you. I wouldn't mind it if that was what they initially offer. The problem is that on their website they publish their coverage is up to $100,000, so you are fooled to think that all is covered and you can be worry free. Save yourself the stress and use the rental company's insurance.

I never usually leave negative comments for products or services but I feel that it is appropriate in this case. Please be aware that if you plan to use RentalCover for insurance then you are taking a risk as their internal claims process is extremely disorganised. They recently ambushed me with a £400 bill relating to a non-fault claim I had understood to be settled. They somehow managed to allow the rental car franchise to reimburse me for damages (without my knowledge) as well reimbursing me themselves. This wouldn't have been a problem if they told me at the time, but instead they waited 2 years before acting. So it seems that even though I purchased insurance to avoid incurring an unexpected bill, RentalCover's incompetence actually guaranteed that I got one. My advice is save yourself some hassle and don't use them.
