My experience with Superior Fence and Rail, particularly with Nick Barry and Stacy Milan, has been an absolute nightmare. I hired them to install a fence on my property, and from the very beginning, it was a disaster.

Firstly, upon their arrival on September 12th, they caused significant damage to my driveway with their overweight truck, and despite my initial understanding demeanor, they failed to rectify the situation. I tried to be polite and told them that I as planning to redo the driveway anyhow and would overlook the damages caused so long as they agreed to come back and run the fence across the driveway once the concrete work was completed. In hindsight, this act of kindness seems to be where things went astray as the company began acting as if they could do whatever they want on my property from this point.

On September 19th, the company finished all aspects of the job except for the section across the driveway and requested the final payment. Believing we had an agreement that they would return to finish, I proceeded to pay the remaining balance. Looking back, this decision also proved to be a mistake. I realize now that I should not have paid the full amount before they completed the entire job, especially considering their contract specifies that the final payment is due upon the completion and satisfaction of the project.

After the concrete work was completed, I reached out to Nick Barry at Superior Fence to finish the job. We discussed using square steel posts across the driveway and agreed on a completion date of October 17th.

On October 17th, the Superior Fence crew, supervised by Nick Barry, arrived. However, they were drinking on the job, and beer cans were left scattered around my property. Moreover, the quality of their work was extremely poor.

They installed small, round posts instead of the agreed square steel ones, and poorly poured quickcrete into the top foot of the hole, resulting in a messy appearance. Additionally, they spray-painted the posts on-site, causing spray paint to splatter on the side of my house.

When I raised my concerns with Nick Barry, he claimed the round posts were "cheaper and available" and changed the materials without my consent. Despite several requests for written confirmation of our discussions, it took weeks to receive any response.

After issuing a chargeback for 50% of the payment due to incomplete work and lack of communication, Superior Fence became eager to resolve the issue. However, their client relations manager, Stacy Milan, insisted on a phone call to discuss payment retraction, ignoring my preference for written communication.

Stacy threatened legal action, but their own contract stated final payment was due upon satisfactory completion, which had not, and still to this date, has not occurred. Despite agreeing to complete the job with their attorney, Doug McClanahan, Superior Fence refused to meet previously agreed terms, leading to further dispute.

Their attorney allowed the company to withhold funds despite our agreement, indicating unethical practices on both his and his client's behalf. After my bank approved the chargeback, attempts to negotiate in good faith were met with further manipulation by Doug McClanahan and his client Superior Fence and Rail.

In addition to filing a BBB complaint, We intend to initiate legal proceedings against Superior Fence and Rail for the improper filing of a lien, as well as for the numerous damages incurred during their presence on-site and subsequently.

In conclusion, my experience with Superior Fence and Rail, and their attorney Doug McClanahan of Hilton Silver & McClanahan, has been deeply disappointing. Their lack of professionalism, poor workmanship, and unethical behavior make them a company to avoid.

We had Dylan install a fence around a property that included 4 homes. While we were initially impressed with such a young guy wanting to work hard and start up a business at a young age we soon realized this guy is a scam. He comes in and starts the job but never returns to fix all the mistakes. We made the mistake of paying him in total before the job was complete. Now we have a terrible looking fence and a job he never completed. When we call and ask him when he'll come back to finish/fix the job he gives us a day and time so I take off work and he never shows. So now we have an unfinished job, out of money and lost wages at work. He also has a piece of our property that he won't return. It's been a complete nightmare. From my understanding Dylan changes the name of his company once people catch on to his scam. So sad a guy this young just starting out his business is already scamming people. We have contacted the BBB and filed a police report because of the property of ours that he won't return. Unfortunately that's all we can do at this point.

Randy J. – Superior Fence & Rail Rep

Hi Melanie, I think you may have us confused with another fence company. Superior Fence & Rail is a national brand with over 35 offices, and we have been in business for over 20 years. We have over 5000 five star reviews making us the highest rated fence company on the planet. I would appreciate it if you would remove this unfounded review from this site. Thanks!

I paid about $2500 for a fence, but after only a few months, the gate broke when a breeze blew it shut. The company insisted that damage caused by any kind of wind is not covered by their warranty, and they wouldn't fix it. So much for "Superior" fences or decent customer service. If you buy one of their privacy fences, after their installers leave, I strongly recommend you install a gate-stop device yourself so that your gate will have a better chance of surviving the wind.

Also, their website's homepage proudly says that don't use subcontractors but they installed my fence with a subcontractor, and the installation was quite a battle too.

I don't have anything positive to say about this company and I'll never recommend them to anyone.
