I signed up for a one-year contract that clearly stated it lasts for "12-months" of service. Nowhere in the contract did it state it would renew automatically; they hid that someone on a lengthy legal page on their website. All other web apps that automatically renew are upfront about it and tell you right away (e.g. Other sites say "annual plan" or "monthly plan" whereas eKomi signs you up to a "12-month" plan).
At the end of the 12 months I stopped using their service and switched to another, more modern service that is more up-to-date with usability and features (eKomi is right at the bottom).
About 6 months after I stopped using their services someone from their team contacts me and asks why I stopped paying and started bothering me about paying for a second year of service. I was quite surprised about this.
I asked them to simply cancel (because unlike all other cloud/web app services there is no way to cancel from the admin section). Instead, they expect you to know that not only did they hide the auto-renewing on their contract they expect you to know to email their billing department requesting a cancellation (all other sites give you a cancel plan option straight from the admin interface to make it very clear).
I simply asked them to do the nice thing and just cancel the contract from the time I stopped using their service (the 12th month of the 12-month contract) but they refused and instead just sent it to collections instead of trying to come to some kind of compromise.
I'm stunned by their greed and shortsightedness. Instead of me leaving a 4-star review about how their customer service turned what could have been a bad situation into a friendly parting they refuse to let go of a single penny and would rather fight and send through collections then do the honorable thing and just part ways in good terms.
Avoid like the plague. I just Googled them and found that most of their employees also feel that the company is backwards and not worth dealing with (search for 'glassdoor ekomi' or 'kununu ekomi' to see for yourself).
Summary: don't even start with them. There are much better services (e.g. TrustPilot, Feefo, TurnTo, ShopperAproved, Reviews.io, etc.) with tons more features for lower prices and more friendly staff and great usability.
This is one company that probably won't be around long.
