I searched diligently for homeowner's insurance in late fall '23, for a new townhome I purchased in early Dec. '23. I DO NOT EVEN LIVE THERE YET... but Travellers sent me a bill for $600 in January, 1 month after I chose them, and said they were raising it due to the visit they made to take photos right after I bought. That is a view from afar (they don't even come inside or go on the roof or anything except have a photographer take a few photos), yet they mentioned the roof as one issue. THE HOA TAKES CARE OF ROOF REPAIRS! I just they are just scam artists and lie, so I am looking and will switch to another carrier once I find it cheaper. Capitalism at its worst. Next.

Tip for consumers:
yes, buyer beware

I used to love the bargains at Big Lots. Now, their prices are higher than most other places when I compare the same products. For example, last week I went to Big Lots with a 20% coupon (necessary now to get any bargain). I priced Oil of Olay bar soap. It is priced $12 for 8 bars at Big Lots. I looked online and it is prices $9.97 for 12 bars at Walmart -- $2 less and 33% more product. I priced aluminum foil and it was $11 at Big Lots. That is the exact same price as Publix!
It appears years ago Big Lots established themselves as a lower prices option, and now they assume their customers are not paying attention to their huge price increases and lack of bargains. Probably abandon shopping there altogether if it does not change soon. Sad.

Tip for consumers:
I typically would have bought numerous items, but the prices are better elsewhere

Products used:
paper towels and bottled water only

So many issues, so little space... I mailed 2 cards to my brother in Ohio (from GA) this past couple months... an anniversary card one month, a birthday card for his wife the prior month -- neither one was received, although they have had the same address for 30+ years, which I of course know by heart, as we used to say.
Also, I signed up for "informed delivery" which is supposed to show you what mail is coming each day -- turns out this is a half truth, since the daily email from USPS typically has missing mail and a disclaimer for such. Today, I went online to track a package, a pair of shoes I bought online, and the tracking number revealed a message reading, "service unavailable at this time" and an apology, which is laughable, since an apology without intention to do better is worthless and a lie.
So, then I clicked the feedback hyperlink, and guess what? I received an error message saying service is unavailable at this time, along with the blah blah blah apology.
Here's a tip: RAISE THE RATES ON BULK MAIL so that companies don't send us insurance and credit card and healthcare ads daily at almost no cost to them, and this crap mail diminishes, and then US citizens regain a decent timeframe and quality to our legitimate mail, for which the postal services was originally created and should be serving, as opposed to a slave to capitalism. UGH.

Tip for consumers:
Use an alternative such as UPS or FedEx

  • The Honey Baked Ham

12/19/16

I have purchased many items (hams, turkey breasts, side items and desserts) from Honey Baked Ham over the years. I expect a long line and wait time if the ham is for me and I go to a local store. Yet I also often order online and ship hams to family (for example, my niece every year for perhaps 10 years now). However, Honey Baked Ham prices have reached astronomical proportions. Even with a coupon for 15% off, the price for an 8 lb ham this year was over $8 a pound at over $65. Add to that the lowest shipping cost available -- no matter how early you order -- $18.95! So a ham for 6-8 people is nearly $100, or to put that into perspective, well beyond the price for a complete turkey dinner with all the trimmings if you have it prepared at a local vendor. The food products Honey Baked Ham sells are good... but the prices are really far beyond what they should be priced at. It is a ham... not a gold bar or the Hope diamond.

Tip for consumers:
Look for coupons online and in the mail, and try to use more than one for each purchase.

This is Jewelry TV. These people model themselves after qv* in terms of luring customers and offering "convenient terms" (JTV's term is flex pay, LOL) to get people to buy subpar quality bling that is akin to dollar store merchandise. In my opinion, the JTV staff and proprietors have no moral compass whatsoever. My 88-year-old mother is currently being debited for at least 5 items (all look like junk from almost everyone's perspective) and the flex pay ranges from as little as $5 to 19.99 for anywhere from 1 to 5 times (debits). It is impossible to keep track of and the quality of the items does not even merit returning. It sounds cliche, but there ought to be a law against this type scam... especially of an octogenarian!

I agree with the other 2 reviewers. The BF sites are total scams. They advertise videos and even say how many times each as been viewed and its length. Yet none, and I mean NONE of those videos advertised are actually there on the bf site/s. The site is nothing like what is advertised -- the videos and photos actually contained amateurish and the guys are average looking, rather than the gorgeous guys they claim to have videos of. Subscriber beware! Even if you join for the trial period, you will end up paying at least for one month by the time you go through the hassle of finally convincing them to cancel your "membership."
