First, from the salesperson to the office staff, they're profligate liars. I explained to David, the salesperson that when we moved from Florida to Virginia we required a semi to transport all of our belongings. I estimated 19-20 thousand pounds of furniture with our two motorcycles. I had two other movers who estimated the same. David said they would use the inventory provided by one of the movers to complete United Regions estimate. He even sent two photos of the semi-trucks that would pick up our belongings. (see attached photos). Originally, the packers were supposed to arrive on 10 and 11 November 2023 to do a full pack and then load on 12 November. I made the mistake of giving a deposit to them. They called during the week they were supposed to arrive and finally admitted they would not be there until 11 November and would pack and load in 1 day. Well, now I know how they can pack in one day because they arrived in two rental trucks with six packers they must have hired along the way. These people had no regard for my possessions. I could not supervise all six and so many things were just thrown into boxes with zero wrapping paper. Don't believe what you read on their website because they were not experienced packers at all. This company is slick. Instead of sending me an estimate for total pounds, they calculated total cubic feet. As a result, they packed single items in wardrobe boxes like a pillow or lampshade.
In any event, I told the supervisor he would not fit all of our items onto the two 26 foot rental trucks but he insisted they would get everything in the two and take them to storage in Manassas, Virginia for 1 month. At the end of the day, the supervisor finally admitted he had miscalculated and they would require another truck and they would be back first thing in the morning to finish up. He pulled out a revised estimate and insisted I sign it. I had no choice since all of our possessions were already loaded onto the two rental trucks. So my original estimate of $16,350 now grew another 35% to $21,850. Folks, they have you over a barrel at this point so there is nothing you can do. It was extortion all the way because they controlled the whereabouts of my furniture.
On the Monday, I called the company to speak to a manager to find out why my price had risen so much and I got a woman named Tina who was very condescending. I asked to speak to a manager and she told me she was as high up as I was going to go as far as making a complaint. She kept saying, "Read your contract." The problem with United Regions is you cannot determine where they are located. The web site says Milwaukee, WI but the letter head says Columbus, OH.
We had chosen to place our furniture in storage while we searched for a home to purchase in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. When we finally had a contract and a closing date, I notified United Regions the earliest we could accept delivery. We were told they could deliver any time within 17 business days so we didn't expect delivery prior to Christmas. We closed on our home on December 8 and I advised United Regions that December 9 was my first available date for delivery. We were so surprised when we got a phone call saying delivery would indeed be on December 9. This was the only positive interaction we had with United Regions. When delivery date arrived, another rental semi came with the driver and four random people from Tampa to offload our furniture.
I served 21 years in the USAF and moved numerous times. Additionally, I've moved from Virginia to Florida, instate from Cape Coral, FL to Palm Harbor, FL and from Palm Harbor, FL to Cape Coral, FL. I've also moved from Florida to Virginia. I'm missing the rails to attach my mirror to my chest of drawers and various other items. This was the most horrendous move I've ever made. If you read the Better Business Bureau reviews, you will see a pattern of gross misconduct with bait and switch and you will see the same response from the owner/manager. Don't believe anything they tell you. I will say once again, DO NOT TRUST YOUR POSSESSIONS TO THIS IGNOBLE COMPANY.
