H. H. Gregg was new to the Tampa Bay area so I purchased a 50" TV, a GE washer, a GE Dryer, a GE Dish Washer and an off brand 18 cubic foot Refrigerator all on the same day. The Refrigerator was for a friend who was coming to Florida in a few months from New York. All the purchases were made at the Clearwater, Florida store. The Refrigerator was delivered to my friends address and I was there to receive it. Two months later, my friend drove down from New York with several cold storage containers of food. Upon his arrival, he plugged the new refrigerator in only to find that it was dead. He called the Clearwater store and was told they could do nothing for two weeks to repair it. My friend called me in panic and I went over to HH Gregg. I told them the problem and they would do nothing. I clearly stated that the refrigerator had not been in use as the house was empty. They didn't care. No matter what I said, they would do nothing for a new customer! I did raise my voice saying I wasn't leaving the store without a new refrigerator. They called the police and had me escorted out of the store. I'm not NOT surprised they went out of business. My friend had to rent a refrigerator for three weeks. When the repair man finally came, they couldn't repair the refrigerator in question so they gave my friend another new one. I never went back to them. What a disgraceful way of handling a new customer!
