I used Nationwide in my move from Ca to NC. Like so many others on this site, my cost was finally 2.5x more then estimate. Despite me measuring my boxes, counting them and making updates before I moved, my move cost more then twice as much. The method they use is Nationwide sells your move to another business- in my case COBRA moving- they show up and wants to get paid more to even start moving with cash or banker's note. So imagine selling your house, having movers show up and demanding more money before they will start. It is blackmail pure and simple. In NC, on receiving my goods, the truck driver (who spoke Arabic so we had to use Google translate to even know what was going on) called and said Delivery was in 2 days on Easter Sunday. I requested a change since we had celebration plans and was told that would cost me $1200 more so I agreed to Easter Sunday. They indicated it was still going to be another $1600 in cash. Again when they showed up the would not unload without getting $1600 more. Again they blackmail you, they have your furniture and so they shake you down.
Another thing Nationwide did was: Before the move I called several times to buy the extra moving insurance. After a week of calling every day and leaving a message, I called and kept calling back until they let me talk to the person who handled insurance. When I finally had him on the phone, he informed me it was too late to add to my move. I explained I had called many times and he never called me back. Our compromise was to have him take the time to extra wrap my products. Everything arrived either totally broken or nicked and damaged in some way.
I plan on filing with the BBB to ensure consumers are forewarned about both companies and their unethical practices.
