I have used Expedia several times in the past and never had any problems.
Yesterday, was a whole other matter!
I'm absolutely appalled and shocked at the lies and deceit shown by customer services.
I booked a hotel for Rhodes in 2 months time. Roughly 7 hours after the booking realised I'd made a mistake in booking the hotel.
I contacted Expedia via online chat to request a cancellation and full refund. I understood that the booking was non refundable, but thought that as I had just made the booking the hotel would show goodwill and grant a refund.
Which I'm glad to say they did without any argument, no thanks to Expedia.
The initial response I got from Expedia was they had tried several times with hotel to request cancellation, saying that the property manager refused to grant a refund and they couldn't do anything else for me!
Liars! I contacted the hotel directly and got a response fairly quickly saying that yes, Expedia had contacted them about cancellation, but that the hotel needed this confirmed by email and NOT just over phone. There would be no issues with cancelling the booking and they would of course not charge me.
Expedia lied to me and had expected me to just go away and suffer the loss of £900! Little did they know that I don't give up that easily!
SHAME ON YOU EXPEDIA!
I will not be booking with them again and suggest you think twice about using them. They may have been okay in the past, but now are a bunch of crooks!

I booked a package holiday with these including, flights, transfers and hotel. This was at the beginning of 2020. Well then COVID happened. Transfers and hotel were free cancellation so no problems there got a refund. As for the flights, we knew a refund would take longer we said we would wait for a refund. Then they offered us a flight voucher and there was lots of news about travel companies struggling so we took a flight voucher. I called to check what this would be valid for, they said it would be valid for any flight on Expedia. Great We'll wait for COVID to calm down then book again. 2 years later we start to look at flights again and when I ring they say the credit can only be used with the exact airline we used last time. Right, so when we look at the flights for this at the same time of year the prices are now 3x times the price. I have tried over the last year to try and get Expedia to raise this with the airline and get me a refund. But because they are sat with my money they don't want to do anything. I have raised complaints and got nothing back, I have raised section 75s with my credit card, raised it with the aviation authority and no one wants to know. They have conned me out of my money and left me with a voucher that if I use I have to spend 3x the cost on the same flights we booked in 2020. When the voucher was explained to me it was explained it was for any flight on Expedia. Now they have gone back on that. Their telephone numbers charge you a fortune to call, you are on wait forever, live chat it useless and goes nowhere. I have lost all my flight money and had to give up because the stress they have caused has caused issues with my mental health. Avoid, avoid, avoid. It's a complete con with terrible service who will tell you anything to get you off the phone. Ewan McGregor might want to read customers experiences before voicing over for these *****.

Tip for consumers:
Don't book, use someone else.

A complete disaster from start to finish: the room was not available on the day of arrival, the support desk asked me to pay for the next place, could not inform me about the address of an alternative place, etc. My complaint was not replied to, and when chasing it appears that the complaint was archived and not even acted upon.

Another review site gives the percentage of 'one star' as 61%. This seems to me that Expedia.co.uk is not up to the job, and should be prevented to deceive more customers.

I recently booked a flight with Expedia.co.uk and they are not transparent with the charges during the booking.
Expedia UK provides you a price in GBP and when you actually book a flight you end up paying in GBP. I recently booked a flight for £783.51 and at no point it was mentioned that the airline I chose was charging in Euros and that the GBP price quoted is an estimate. I used my credit card to pay £783.51 and when my credit card statement arrived I was shocked to see that the amount paid was in Euro. And I was charged 913.72 plus non-sterling transaction fee of £21.55. Firstly, I lost out on the exchange rate as the credit card companies never offer good exchange rates - the exchange rate applied was 1.1662 when it was 1.1862 on that day.
If I was to pay 913.72@ the correct exchange rate of 1.1862 I would have paid only £770.29. I therefore lost out £13.22 straight away on the exchange rate! Added to that a non-sterling transaction fee of £21.55. My total loss was £34.77.
When I contacted Expedia they pointed me to a clause 3.1 in their huge list of Terms and Conditions (which apparently I accepted) and said that they are not liable for these fees and that the price in GBP was an estimate. This is ridiculous as they were never transparent about the charges. I feel cheated! Their terms and conditions are on https://www.expedia.co.uk/p/support/general-booking-conditions.

I also booked my accommodation through Airbnb and they quoted me a price in GBP for a Euro destination and that is what I paid. The conversion etc was already applied by Airbnb and I knew exactly what I was paying for my accommodation - there were no conversion or any non-sterling transaction fees whatsoever. This is what I mean by transparency.

Expedia are a bunch of cheats. They are never transparent about their prices.

They have stolen me $575. Yes, that simple. I made a reservation before COVID-19 and once I got all my flights cancelled they never answered my calls, messages, and attempts to contact them through HOMEAWAY. Service from "STAY"AWAY was awful, they never tried to help me. They argued that "the owner was no answering them". How can you use that argument with your customer?!
So, avoid TEMPLE BAR at DUBLIN. They are COOKS!
And HOMEAWAY too!
Use Airbnb, instead.
