“Hire Car Scammers.”

I hired a car from Green Motion at Birmingham International UK so that i could get around visiting UK family. The car pick-up was okay, though i felt a little pressured and they didn't come with me to check the car out. I found this unusual. There were no problems with the car and it was clean enough. However, upon return there was a stone chip on the windscreen the size of the end of a ballpoint pen, and as it turned out, a 4mm crack. Initially i thought this was one they'd already marked on the checkout sheet, but the new chip was on the passenger side. The Green Motion staff insisted that the car needed a new screen. As a qualified motor vehicle technician and pre-MOT inspector of fifteen years experience, i knew this was utter nonsense. The crack was perfectly repairable for around £50 and would have left hardly a blemish. Of course i briefly argued the case on the day and refused to sign for any liability. Before i'd even left the airport, i received an email making the same demands for a new screen. They had a £1205 excess damage deposit i'd left on my credit card as a condition of hiring the car. Days later, they sent a bill for nearly £900. Knowing that this was an extortionate charge for what should only be a minor half hour repair, i emailed them to revoke consent to access my credit card funds. AFTER this they effectively stole the money from my credit card account. They said the terms state they are allowed to charge 'reasonable' costs for repair. However, they obviously broke their own terms as the cost of a new screen for what should have been a minor repair is unreasonable. Of course i've been arguing the case, but they have not returned the funds. I've forwarded my complaint to other bodies and will ultimately take legal action if necessary. The best they've done is offer me £120 back as 'a gesture of goodwill.' What an insult and i certainly don't feel any goodwill to these crooks. I have a family and young children to support, so they will go short as a result of this theft. I would advise anyone to steer well clear of Green Motion. Don't be taken in by an initial low hire cost. If they see the opportunity, there's likely to be a very big and unpleasant sting in the tail. I wont ever give up trying to get my money back. Ultimately, i will make sure this hire car mafia will end up paying out a lot more than the amount they have fraudulently extorted from me. I

Tip for consumers:
Don't be taken in by initial cheap hire cost. It would probably be better to pay a bit more and use a reputable hire company that is not in the business of scamming its customers.

My work booked Green Motion as I was in the UK doing some training. Everything started off fine, was a bit of a pain having to get a bus to the car as it wasn't situated at the airport (Gatwick) but wasn't the end of the world. Customer service seamed fine and was given a nice car, it wasn't until I got back the issues started, I had an email from Green Motion saying that I had x2 fines for crossing the Dartford crossing, coming to a total of £136, I wasn't really sure what this was as I live in Guernsey and don't drive in the Uk much, so googled it and what I had done is took a wrong turn and went over the Dartford crossing then to rectify my mistake I went back over it to continue on my journey, I was unaware I needed to pay any tolls so of course this was my fault so I paid Green motion for said fines...… or so I thought, a couple of weeks later I get a letter from the Dartford accounts team asking me to settle x2 fines of £75 if settled in less then 14 days would reduce to £35, So I contacted Green Motion as I thought I had already paid THEM for said fines only to find out that I was not charged for the fines but for ADMIN FEES! That's right!. £136 to fill out x2 forms to change the name on the fine from Green Motion to my name, almost double what the fines actually equated to. I asked a member of the Dartford Account team how long this process would take to change the name and he told me, and I quote ''It would take no more then 10min to fill out the form'' I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN! RIP OFF!
I have attached the 2 bills I had, it even says at the bottom that all they had to do was send an email to change the name.

Use anyone but GREEN MOTION!!

Book a rental for a week at a reasonable price. Pickup was outside a holiday Inn that looked deserted and was pretty filthy outside. Took forever to process and required a hold of $2500 on credit card since I didn't want their insurance. My credit card covers that so didn't need to.
We got the rental, and I specifically told the customer rep that we had earlier flights so needed to instructions on how to drop off vehicle at around 5am. Was provided specific instructions and told to take pics of before and after the car. She pointed to the drop-off box and off I walked to the back of this shady place to retrieve the vehicle. Walked to a small office and they pointed to the car. Noone came to show me basic features just pointing it out. At first, I tried to open one car, but it was the wrong car...they were both black at the direction they pointed into so...
We took pics of the car before and went out merry way. Upon returning the car, we took pics as instructed, parked the car and dropped off the key. A few days later, I checked my credit card to find an additional $1200 charged to my vehicle with no communication. I emailed to inquire about the charges and 2 days later I was told it was from the damages to the car. I requested to be shown the damages and couldn't really see them. I proceeded to send my pics of before and after and since there was no damage, I was slapped with "you signed a contract that states you are liable for any damages to the car until the office opens". Clearly, this was not designed for people with earlier flights but nowhere was it mentioned. After a month of back and forth, I had to resort to disputing the charges and fortunately was able to recover the additional charges. From now on, I am only going with the brands I know...
