“Portable air conditioners do okay.”

Peach R.
5/16/21

Received a Perfect Air air conditioner as a present about five years ago. They last several years and do okay for a 900 sq ft room that is sun facing. My unit is south facing and direct afternoon sun light in the hot pm hours. It gets hot and uncomfortable. It does okay for the most part. It's still rather noisy but quieter than other brands I've had. During the hot summer days it's 90+ out it's totally useless. I found if I have two running it's at least bearable. Just make sure the outlets can handle it. My hoa will only allow the portable room ones or I would of gotten a stronger one. I found there are too many air gaps between the window and the unit. I found if you tape them closed you can keep air from leaking in. Keep the doors to the room shut, draw the curtains and it helps. I've had some air conditioners go down to 57 but their units only go as low as 62. I have been enjoying my air conditioner but found they cheeped out on the clip on parts to the hose attachments. I am pretty much replacing them annually because of it. The clips that lock in are constantly breaking and snapping off due to being cheaply made. I may say to hell with it and just duct tape it in from now on. If you have a 3d printer you can easily replace these parts your self by making new ones as they break. Just be sure to scan in the piece before any damage comes to it. I am going to save up for one because I'm finding there's a lot of things it would of been nice to have for. Customer service is wonderful and I've never had an issue with their reps. I'm a little annoyed that you can only order replacement parts through the customer service reps. Most other brands allow you to order them through the online store. Each time I order them I end up wasting 30 min trying to order replacement parts. When I could of just bookmarked the item in question then checked out in less than five minutes at most other places.

“Terrible product”

I purchased a 3 zone mini split system through HVACdirect.com). I had to replace a defective fan the first year(part was warrantied), then the 2nd year, I had a condensate hose break off at the housing and 2 of the inside units leaked refrigerant at the coils(not warrantied). I'm very disappointed with the quality of the product and would not recommend buying Perfect Aire. Cheap Chinese product and a 1 year warranty make this a terrible choice.

I definitely won't be buying another Perfect Aire system in the future.

This company doesn't stand behind their product at all. Even when you have a warranty you have to pay for service for parts that break every year. We are sitting with a unit right now that's still under warranty that doesn't work that we've had to pay $500 in service trying to get it fixed. The customer service is horrible. They say one thing is wrong and order parts you pay service fees then still not fixed. Then it's something else you pay service fees. Still not fixed! They do not stand behind their product. No wonder their rating is so low!

Tip for consumers:
We have replaced parts the last 2 years ! Now it still isn’t working now we have spent 500 on service with a unit still not working !!

Bought a Perfect Aire mini split through HVAC DIRECT and was delivered a faulty unit right out of the box. It took weeks to get any response from tech support, and then they promised they'd ship a replacement motherboard. Waited a week and called back for tracking number, they said they'd never shipped it and wanted yet another round of photos of the units. Do not buy PerfectAire!

I bought a Perfect Aire Mini-Split system, the Outdoor unit defected out of the box - no refrigerant gas flow sound when the refrigerant valves are opened. Fan is not spinning when commissioning the system. The manufacturer Perfect Aire refused to replace the whole Outdoor unit, but they offered to send an internal electronic circuit board so that you can find a local HVAC expert to repair on your own cost, and no guaranty for a fix. Or send them the defected unit to be troubleshooted by their technicians and they may or may not return the functional unit based on their terms. So Don't trust Perfect Aire's No-hassle 1-Year Warranty, And Don't buy any Perfect Aire products all together if you don't want any headaches.

I know that most people write reviews when they are upset about a product or customer service. People are much more likely to write about their negative experience & accept positive experiences without comment. I really want to give Perfect Aire the credit they deserve. I rent a 3 bedroom house that was built when dinosaurs walked the earth. The house was built so horribly that part of the house has no foundation. They just kept adding on rooms that would never be legal now. The walls have no insulation & this house gets as hot as a car left in 100 degree heat. The walls do not keep heat or cold out but they hold it in just enough that the temp raises to dangerous levels in the summer. Unfortunately I live in California where the crummiest apartment goes for 2000+ & cannot afford to move. After our wall Ac stopped working we bought a black & decker 14,000 unit from Amazon. Wanting the entire house cool we also purchased a Perfect Aire 9,000 from Ace Hardware for the master bedroom. I had never heard of the brand before buying it, it was simply the only one in stock at Ace. We plugged them in and within a week realized our lower BTU Perfect Aire was blowing Black & Decker out of the water. The Black & Decker never came close to the requested temperature and instead cycled to fan every 10 minutes. We followed every manufacturer direction & let the unit & coolant settle for 48 hours after shipping. The Perfect Aire pumped out pure glorious cold air. We were desperate to chill this house & I can't thank them enough. We ended up returning the Black & Decker via Amazon and only kept the Perfect Aire. I have now owned this AC for a full year. I did not use it over the Winter & Spring but am pleased to say that on year 2 this AC is still strong as ever. We have had absolutely no problem with it. We are now in the market for a second AC (we always intended to have 2) and came across the negative reviews for this company & were shocked. I looked them up & they are an American company out of Illinois. The units are a bit pricey but I can say without equivocation that the Perfect Aire we have has been the best portable AC we have ever owned. I run it continuously the entire summer (and part of Fall/Spring) & have the temp set at 62 for my bedroom. In the town I live in the temp goes over 100 regularly & even the nights can be as hot as 80-90. The sound doesn't bother me. To me it is white noise & I sleep soundly. This AC is one of the best purchases I have EVER made. I wanted to leave a review on Ace for them but their website wouldn't let me since I didn't buy it from them online (and it was a year ago). If you're considering buying a portable AC, don't hesitate to buy the Perfect Aire 9,000. For us it was a life saver. I had been seriously concerned about the health of my golden retriever (tons of fur) in the heat but this AC blasts out cold air nonstop. It is dry in California so I've never had to drain it except when I stored it for winter. Love love love Perfect Aire & wanted to thank them.

Tip for consumers:
This company has a one year warranty. We haven’t had any issues & have not needed to use the warranty but the unit comes with registration & warranty info. It also has a remote control.

I did not interact with their customer service because I have never had a problem with the AC. I did not exchange or return it so I can’t rate them on their service. I purchased this unit from Ace Hardware in Carmel Mountain last Summer so I did not have it shipped & do not know what their shipping cost is.

I have had a worse experience with Perfect Aire (PA) dehumidifier model 1PFD50. The unit stopped working, the ice was building up on the coil in the back of the unit, I defrosted it and started again, the same thing happened. I bought the unit and paid $343.99 Canadian currency including taxes. I called the PA customer services, the representative asked me several questions to trouble shoot the problem, she spent with me half an hour on the phone and finally told me the unit is out of refrigerant gas and needed to be replaced, it was not worth fixing. I bought the unit 15 months ago, the customer representative, said it was out of the warrant. It's only a month extra out of warranty, the Perfect Aire customer service would not agree to replace it. This is the last time; I'm buying any products made by Perfect Aire.
