Worst experience ever! Booking with economycarrental.com (ECR) was full of bad surprises and their customer service is appalling.
The booking itself includes HIDDEN COSTS: a) Their theft Damage Excess Protection and Cancel Protection Service, are not refundable or deducted from the outstanding balance paid locally at pick up. You need to cancel it before the booking starts, or you will find yourself paying it twice (also to the local company you hire from since ECR is only an intermediate), b) what they call a "down payment" and pretends to be a deposit at first turns out to be also non-refundable payment for the car hire mediation (in my case about $400).
Book with ECR if prepared to lose over $500 unless, of course, you are the type who read the fine print. The company is a total scam, which was confirmed by the way they deal with the complaint later. An invoice for their services was never issued. Not even 2 months after the booking. I wonder why...

The payment is divided in two parts.
An amount is charge during the booking procedure and the balance is always payable at the rental desk as stated during the booking procedure at the final step in the price breakdown.
This also is indicated on the online receipt that was received upon the confirmation of a reservation.
