I have started making soap to sell in memory of my brother- the money raised goes to pat adoption fees for shelter animals-- That said- it was important to keep costs down so more money can go to the cause. Not only are the prices at Bulk Apothecary competitive- their shipping costs are much more competitive than a lot of their competitors. They get your order out quickly and it arrives as advertised. I purchased a 7lb tub of natural cocoa butter from them & received a dud. The product was hard and looked dried out except for a few dark spots. I tried to use it anyway, wondering if melting it down would solve the issue, and I was able to make lotion out of it but my recipe was off due to the consistency and the end product is hard to use, it doesn't seem to melt down in my hands as well as prior batches. Anyway I waited too long to try return it but I wrote to them asking how to dispose it and whether it may have gone bad and their customer service was not helpful at all. They ignored my question of whether it was bad and told me that the lot expired this month (a year after receiving it, when it was bad when I got it) and to contact my local waste disposal to figure out how to remove it. I get that they're no longer responsible for disposal once it's out of their hands, but if you can't even educate your customer then you have no business selling products with combustible warnings. And further why are they selling such large quantities of product that are nearly bad? A year is a quick turnaround for that amount of cocoa butter when the shelf life is 2-5 years... how long did it sit on their shelves? If it was that close to expiration and clearly already bad if you opened it, then the dates should be visible to customers before purchase & it should be offered at a discount. An expensive lesson that there are plenty of other sources available.
I wish I would have read the reviews before purchasing from this company. I found them on Amazon, then started ordering from the direct site. 1 of my packages was marked delivered but it was delivered to the wrong address with a picture of a house that is not mines. I was told that the product was delivered and they did their part! Now I have to wait over a week to get an answer on whether they go refund me or not. I also own a business and all of my packages are insured. I would never make a customer wait this long especially if they have proof that the package was not delivered properly. I provided the picture that was left by the postal service plus a picture of my home with the address in BIG numbers proving that my home address picture did not match the picture that was provided by the delivery company. I fully understand that they did mail the package but I also provided the right address on the order plus proof that it wasn't delivered to me. As a business owner I would immediately send out a replacement or refund, just to provide proper customer service. They will get their money back from the insurance claim! Don't even think about paying for faster shipping, it's still go come in the regular amount of days. I also made this mistake. I should have learned my lesson then. They won't get another opportunity to slow down the production of my products.

I have such aweful experiences with Bulk Apothecary, I will never order from them again, they are the absolute worst to try and get an educated answer about there merchandise, my orders have come with bags broken open and spilled out, and they don't have good quality items. September the warehouse manager is rude and not helpful. No Stars!

Shipping time took a few days shy of a month, but I completely understand due to the unprecedented times. However, the liquid hand santizer, "Germ Attack", is one of the worst odors I have ever smelled. It smells like tequila vomit with a hint of fermented vegetables & milk. I feel like I wasted $100.00, because it is not usable as is, and gives my family members and I a nauseating feeling with slight headache. I am disappointed with the product, but not Bulk Apothecary.
Tried to place an order for 208 oz of Eucalyptus essential oil they gave me the volume discount on 160 oz but charged me full price on 48 oz because they don't have the option add them together? Seriously? After I placed the order and questioned this, they literally said sorry and btw you were also entitled to a 15% discount which we are NOT going to give you. Because you missed entering the secret code
I've bought quite a bit of product from them in the past year. Lotions, bottles, caps, boxes, soaps and bathbombs. I've had an issue with one bottle missing from a case of 6. I called they replaced the missing bottle. I didn't have any problems with ordering, shipping, or customer service when a mistake was made. The products themselves were good quality and aesthetically pleasing. I've read some recent reviews of the lotion and can say that if what they're claiming is true, then the issue has been resolved because I haven't had the same experience. It's possible that extenuating circumstances lead to these unfortunate events but I can honestly say that I've not had any of the experiences that's I'm seeing in these reviews and I'm very excited to continue working with Bulk Apothecary. I purchased 500 dollars worth of bulk essential oils for my candle business and they are absolutely horrible! The cheapest essential oils I have ever worked with. They smell good out of the bottle but once put in a lit candle they have the most repulsive smell! Almost like a very strong gas. I can't use any of these products in my candles. I have no idea why they are so bad. A huge disappointment and waste of money.

I just made a purchase with them. They sent the wrong item so I contacted them. They want me to send the item back which is not a problem but I don not have a return label. Then they told me when I made my order they were out of stock. Why couldn't they let me know that when I made my purchase? Then they suggested that I purchase their smaller size. Why would I do that knowing how expensive their shipping is? And to top it off even though it was THEIR mistake I can't get my refund until they receive their item. I generally like purchasing from them but I don't know if I will again. I have a body butter business and it's affecting it. This is so how you do NOT do business.

Ok product if you don't mind waiting a month or so to get it
At first I ordered the smallest bottles of sandalwood vanilla (formerly bath & bodywork devotee). I bought 6 and was very pleased. My recent order was escalated to larger sized bottles... NOT very pleased! It's almost as If to increase the amount, water was added. The oil's scent was 50% less strong than the smaller bottles. Ot happy with this order.

Spoke with them they email! By far the worst! This company is taking money! Lying about sending product! I wish I would of read the reviews before I spent money on essential oil I never received! Launching my scrubs March 5! Major set bk! But I will not recommend this company to anyone!
I received my order of about $500 worth and received wrong items. When you call the answering machine comes on saying they are closed. Yet they are supposed to be open from 8-430. I called at 230, so then I send an email. No response…I should know better because I have had a bad experience before sending products that weren't as described or again sent wrong products. I spent much more on the item then what they sent me. If they don't respond I will go same route as before to reporting them. I find it's a bad reflection on management and therefore the employees are the same way. This company needs to be revamped and get better customer service. It's a nightmare to deal with them.

I ordered white beeswax. Spent over $65 on shipping and customs on a $55 product. When it arrived it had the most foul smell ever! I immediately reached out to the company only to be told that I will have to pay to ship back ($65) for a partial refund! Doesn't make sense. Then I email them again they ask for the lot # so they can look into it, get a partial refund without sending back and guess what? They say its fine. I have to throw out the product that in the end cost me over $100. What a waste...

I've been a loyal customer since last year when I stumbled upon them on Google they have great prices but be warned it comes with a price! Garbage products. Their body butter is grainy hard to work with, I bought foaming bath whip they sent me cosmetic base instead I had to find another website and I am please the only thing I like is their fragrance oils that's it and I'm planning to go elsewhere because their coconut fragrance oil literally has no scent I'm fitting to throw them out today! Being cheap isn't always good.
Oils leaked during shipping on my very first order. The oils leaked so bad, the box was saturated snd my post office called me to ask me to immediately come and pick up the shipment. When I reported this to Customer Service, they would only replace missing ounces, nothing to compensate for the inconvenience. They did ship a replacement of the missing ounces. Those leaked as well. Not going to order from them again. First and last order.
In this age of technology and ecommerce, the family owners go and boast about expansion but reality is they suck at what they do. Best example if somebody wants to study "Direct To Consumer Failure". Customer service is horrible. Reps on phone say that ownership/supervisor doesn't have time to entertain customers on call or listen to them. Who tells a customer that company leaders don't have time to talk to customers in this age?
My business used their products with EXCELLENT customer reviews! Personally, I began using their products to replace Philosophy's Amazing Grace line...which has gone down hill since Coty bought the company. I get a BETTER product for LESS from Bulk Apothecary!

Bulk Apothecary has no customer service. I purchased $15,000 of product on March 19 with an estimated delivery of ten days. They ran my card and still have not shipped the product. They do not answer their phones or reply to e-mail. I would not recommend use this company. I will not even give them one star. They should shut their doors and be investigated by the government.
Terrible, terrible essential oils. I believe they have extenders and diluents in them... not even two months and my lemongrass oil was rancid. Essential oils aren't supposed to get "rancid." Took the extra time to post proof of purchase because selling people crap like this is truly disrespectful, inconsiderate, and dishonest.

Coconut oil was fine. Didn't use Peppermint Oil. Used the Lemon Oil for a week--it sucked. Like...who knew Lemon Essential Oil could smell so bad. Used the Lemongrass Oil for a month before it got rancid.
I bought a 7 pound bucket of refined Shea Butter. I was extremely disappointed with the quality. The texture is very grainy and gross—basically think burnt/curdled/seized chocolate. I've had the 7 pound bucket for just over 6 months (stored in my refrigerator between uses) and it's already gone rancid. After contacting customer support, I learned that because it's been more than 90 days since I received it and my specific batch shouldn't expire until a year from now (December 2022) they won't do anything about it.
Their bulk batches are severely lacking in quality control.
I was expecting the worst after I had read the reviews (after I had already placed an order) so was pleasantly surprised when my order arrived in slightly over a week. It arrived in fine shape and as some had mentioned the smells of some of their products, I opened each item and did not notice that any smelled unusual. I will probably order from them again. Note: I ordered eight different items but in very small quantities for making homemade lotion bars for personal use.

I purchased Bulk Apothecary's 1 Gallon unscented massage lotion & the premium massage lotion. Both were a total disappointment. Both products are Water Based and if you add oil, you'll just notice the oil floating on top. The lotion dries very quickly, so if you apply the lotion within 20 seconds it dries completely. I've definitely used better. As for the Ratings for this product - Wish I checked before I purchased. All the reviews are from 2016 - 2019... and here we are at 2021.
They claim to treat customers the way they would want to be treated, yet I cannot return anything I've used only once. Satisfaction not guaranteed, since I can't tell if I like it or not unless I open it. Once it's opened, it's yours. Their prices are low for a reason; their product is much weaker than the top of the line brands. Going back to those other brands, never doing business here again. Total waste of my money. Thanks a lot Bulk Hypocrites!
Did finally receive the Hand sanitizer I ordered. Seems they shipped it about 3 week after I ordered it. Giving them the benefit, they were probably overwhelmed by recent events.
Ordered 2 items on march 8th. Cannot log into account now. Their phone number has a message that they are not answering calls. Email contact does not reply. This is not a way to treat your customers. Will have to file a claim with the credit card company
